Play Airlines Reviews: My First Experience Shocked Me!

Aug 2, 2023

Travel Blog

I travel often, and I know many of you do, too. Recently, I tried Play Airlines, a new budget airline popular with Gen Z.

Founded in 2019, Play Airlines follows the motto “pay less, play more.” It offers flights from major East Coast cities in the US to destinations like London and Copenhagen.

Also, all these flights are hundreds of dollars less than those of other airlines. This is why it appeals to travelers looking to save money.

The airline carriers are among the best that offer ultra-low fares when traveling to Europe. So the new entrant in the market has appeared in the search results for Transatlantic flights after April 2022. The airline aims to bring visitors to Iceland and connect North America and Europe.

The airline started flying in 2021 in Iceland; however, in North America, the service began in April 2022.

Do you want to know more about the PLAY Airlines reviews? I will tell you about the airline, its foundation, and my experience? Keep reading!

This Is My Experience With Play Airlines!

When the airline carrier was first inaugurated, Play Airlines and Baltimore Airport collaborated to create a good impression in the form of a water cannon salute when the first plane of Play Airline pulled up to the gate. Overall, the first impression was quite well made by Play Airlines.

The staff is helpful and interactive. Another added advantage of a low-budget carrier airline. It is unheard of for a low-budget carrier airline to be perfect concerning its services.

I would also like to discuss certain shortcomings that I identified. Do give it a go before you book tickets on Play! The flight I traveled on was spacious, clean, and memorable because I was finally traveling to Paris, one of my dream destinations.

What Is Play Airlines?

What Is Play Airlines?

Play Airlines is addressed as the Ultra Low-Cost Carrier (ULCC), which is not completely uncommon. However, many carriers have additional charges based on transportation, which ULCC still needs! These airlines are perfect for passengers traveling on a budget like me!

My travel plans are concrete, and I am not free to have flexible dates and timings because I have a job! I am also one of those who do not care about luxury or frills added to necessities.

Therefore, I am functional when it comes to services such as Wi-Fi and entertainment charging points. Ultimately, I can adjust this much if I am traveling to a destination, especially for a vacation.

Play is the successor of Wow Air, a low-cost airline carrier that ran out of service in 2019. So, if you question, is Play Airlines safe? It is.

PLAY Airlines Reviews 2025: Did I like It?

My Experience On Flying With Play Airlines

So I was traveling to Paris from Boston and was charged $292 for a roundtrip. To begin with, this is quite a cheap deal that I have got on Play Airline. Another significant thing I noticed and did not expect was a comfortable seat and 34 inches of legroom.

Isn’t that amazing? Finding another airline that gives 34 inches of leg space might be challenging! It is quite unheard of in a budget carrier. The seats are Delta Comfort Plus, which is comfortable, and I was very relaxed throughout the flight. The chairs are tall enough for you to rest your head.

As a frequent flier, half of your problems are solved if the seat is comfortable! According to my Play Airlines review, it is quite comfortable to travel with this airline. The space for the leg also helps in extending the tray table. There was no charging extension or plug-ins in the Play flights, which is usually there in transatlantic carriers and U.S. airlines.

I found the crew very supportive and helpful. I had a very positive experience while interacting with the crew. No food or snack is free; however, this is one of the side effects of low-budget carriers. I did not see any food or water services throughout the flight except at the beginning and end.

What I Found Beneficial?

What I Found Beneficial?

In A321neo, headrests were present in each seat with extra padding and adjustable wings. When you fly Play Airlines, you will get better seating comfort than most of the low-budget flying airlines. The setting does help in creating a more comfortable sleeping position.

I also noticed that every seat had its lights and dedicated air vents. It helped me a lot because I am an avid reader, so there was no issue with my entertainment as I almost finished a book on the flight.

A significant advantage I found on Play Airlines is that there was no bundling, nor was the fare made complicated concerning overall expenditure. I also found the timings of the flights to be mostly punctual. The connecting flights to Europe via Keflavik are conveniently set.

Their food and drink collection is quite decent; you can order based on your requirement. There is also no connectivity, such as Wi-Fi, messaging, or entertainment.

What Did I Find Negative?

What I Found Negative?

I have heard that the seat arrangements are a mixed bag, such as seats with 34 inches of leg space, while some seats give you a meager 28 inches of leg space.

So, as a traveler, you should search on Google Flights regarding the space of the specific flights of Play Airlines before you book tickets. Make sure to check the legroom extension to have some wiggle room.

Another significant shortcoming that I noticed on the flight was that there needed to be more power. As a traveler, one thing that is essential in today’s time is charging your phone, which I wasn’t able to do because of no power.

You will not be getting any refund; hence, in case of cancellation from your side, you will need clarification with the services. Another thing that might look like a chore to you is creating an account to view or book seats and baggage fees.

The complete itinerary or any schedule based on base fare will only be accessible if you have an account on the official website, www.flyplay.com.

PLAY Airlines Reviews: Why Should You Go For It?

If you’re on the hunt for a budget-friendly way to travel, Play Airlines might just be the perfect fit.

I recently flew with them to Iceland, and I have to say, I was genuinely impressed with the comfort and cleanliness of the experience—especially given how affordable their fares are.

I’m already looking into booking another trip to Europe with them this fall! For those of us who prefer a more laid-back travel style, Play Airlines is ideal.

They get you where you need to go without the extra costs that typically come with mainstream airlines.

On my trip to Iceland, the money I saved on airfare allowed me to explore more once I got there.

I treated myself to a bus tour along the stunning southern coast and even checked out the unique Lava Show in Reykjavík, all without feeling like I was stretching my budget too thin.

Honestly, flying with a low-cost airline like Play opened up more opportunities for me and truly enhanced my overall travel experience.

How To Book On Play Airlines?

You have to visit their official website, but before that, search Google Flights. Accordingly, select flights and seats based on your preferences and make your payment.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. Play Airlines vs Icelandair: Which one is better?

Play Airlines for the cheapest fares on a no-frills flight, but expect to pay extra for amenities like bags, food, and seat selection.
Opt for Icelandair if you prioritize comfort, want complimentary amenities such as Wi-Fi and in-flight entertainment, and are willing to pay more for the added services.

2. How Much are PLAY Airlines baggage fees?

PLAY Airlines offers a pay-as-you-go model for baggage. Every fare includes one free personal item.
However, you will need to pay for checked baggage and additional services like seat selection.
For complete details on baggage fees, visit the PLAY Airlines Terms and Conditions page

3. Is There Food On PLAY Airlines?

Yes, you can purchase food and drinks onboard all PLAY Airlines flights from their onboard menu, but it is not complimentary

Play Airlines Reviews 2025: Should You Go For It?

My overall experience on Play Airlines was mostly positive. However, some of the shortcomings are quite significant. Having no power to charge your mobile phone devices can seriously put travelers who are traveling long distances at risk.

The only solution to this problem is carrying a power bank. You must be aware of these issues before you book a flight!

There are limited options to travel to Iceland if you cancel the flight you have booked, or if the authorities have delayed it.

IWantThatFlight Offering Cheap Flights: The Best Hack For Traveling On A Budget

BY  Sibashree Mar 9, 2026

After discount codes, Ttweakflight, IWantThatFlight is another travel hack that you will definitely like.  Cheap flight booking and airport hacks always help to make even the most luxurious trip affordable with added perks.  Furthermore, as a believer in the TravelLowDownUnder philosophy, I usually travel to places that are not the mainstream touristy ones but the ones that offer a real experience.  So, naturally, I have to do a lot of research. For example, when I am preparing for offbeat locations such as Kotor, Montenegro, or, suppose, Jaffna, a lesser-known part of Sri Lanka, planning the flights and logistics occupies much of my time. However, thanks to IWantThatFlight, you can now find the following information on one platform, and that too very easily.  The Best Dates The Best Destinations And The Best Value This site is comprehensive and easy to navigate. It is especially beneficial for Australian travelers, and if you are planning a XXXX brewery tour in Brisbane or a trip to Australia.  However, you can also use this website for booking flights that operate from any other country.  For example, I used it for a trip to Ninh Binh while flying with Vietnam Airlines.  Hi, in today’s blog, I will talk about how you can use the IWantThatFlight hacks. So, keep reading.  How To Get The Best Flight Deals With IWantThatFlight? IWantThatFlight is more than a platform to compare flight deals. It is a one-stop destination to compare car hire deals and hotel tariffs.  And you know, for a budget-friendly traveler like me, it is never enough to find the cheapest places to travel.  It is also about exploring the best deals and having a plan that will keep my travel experience local, authentic, and yet safe. So, for me, IWantThatFlight is the ideal go-to platform.  Nevertheless, if you are on the IWantThatFlight only to search for the best flight deals, here are two ways to get it right.  1. How To Search For The Australian Domestic Flights?  You can use two ways to look for the best Australian domestic flight deals and prices.  • Search For Flights With Deals Firstly, you can enter the dates of your travel using the easy search functionality of the website.  Also, in this process, if you opt for “flexible dates,” you will find a price comparison for flights for an entire month from all airline services.  • Get An Overview Of Flight Deals For A Year In the second method, you can find the details of the flight prices for an entire year.  Also, here, you can even see a graphical representation of the flight prices for the upcoming few weeks.  To compare the prices, you can simply visit the “Domestic Flight” page. Then, you have to pick your travel destination.  Now, on the next screen, you have to find the place you are traveling from.  Once you do that, you will see the recent and upcoming prices for the flight and essential information about the destination you want to visit.  For a traveler like me, the yearly overview works better.  Suppose I want to visit a place, but I have not decided on the time. With the yearly overview, I can find out the best time or the time when I can find the best deals. 2. How To Search For International Flights? There are even two ways to find the international flights.  • Search With Your Departure And Arrival Airports You can search by the airport you are flying from and the arrival airport. It is okay if neither the departing airport nor the arriving airport is in Australia.  Then, you can look for dates.  Next, you will find the screen showing the price for all airline services on that route, along with the right filters. The filters can be on the following matters. Airlines Price Transit Airports Moreover, during the search process, you can find the most unusual combinations. For example, once I was flying to Japan from Malaysia. I found many budget airline combinations, such as Air Asia and Cebu Pacific.  • Searching For International Flights From Australia If you are traveling from Australia, you can use a smart screen to search for a flight to a specific destination.  You can use search criteria such as a date range for traveling.  For example, you have found out one of the best places to visit in December in the USA, and you want to travel for two weeks. Once you enter the time range, it will offer you the dates on which you will get the best deals.  Of course, to find international flights, you will have to visit the “International Flights” page. You can explore “All International Destinations” or the city you want to visit. Then, enter your departing airport and the chosen destination to get the best deals on IWantThatFlight.  How To Stay Informed About The Best Flight Deals On IWantThatFlight? There is no chance of missing the notifications about the best flight deals on IWantThatFlight.  You can set alerts, and thus you can receive emails when there is a massive drop in the flight prices.  For example, I was making extensive trips to Sri Lanka. I set up alerts when there is a significant price slash. The, I can do my bargaining.  IWantThatFlight also offers newsletters with all the best deals for flights departing from your home airport or the airports you travel from.  Moreover, you can also find last-minute flight deals on the IWantThatFlight platform. The platform will explore hundreds of airline options for the specific travel dates and curate the best deals for you.  However, when you are booking last-minute flights, you have to be careful about the onboarding and departure guidelines of the specific airlines. For example, a travel comparison or booking platform can show you availability and booking facilities even two hours before a flight departs.  Still, the specific airline may need you to be at the airport at least two hours before departure. It is especially crucial for international travel.  So, explore your search options smartly.

Sailing Into the Wild: Why a Trollfjord Cruise Is Norway’s Most Magical Fjord Experience

BY  Barsha May 24, 2025

Just imagine you are out in the sea, cruising through the crystal clear waters with towering cliffs around you. And, you sailed to reach the most breathtakingly beautiful fjord in the world. Exciting, right? But, does this kind of place truly exist? Well, welcome to Trollfjord in Norway. One of the most beautiful and mystical fjords in the wilderness of Norway. Here, you will enjoy the natural essence of fjords with a cinematic view of the cliffs converging towards your sailing cruise. It is one of the most famous spots to experience fjord cruises in their purest form.  For those planning a fjord tour that’s a bit off the tourist radar—but packed with jaw-dropping beauty and Arctic charm—a Trollfjord cruise in Norway should be at the very top of your itinerary. Why Cruise Norway’s Fjords? If you are wondering why you should cruise through Norway’s fjords? You will be awed to know about the beauty of the western coastline of Norway. It is carved into numerous sea inlets for you to cruise down. And, the coastline stretches to all the way from the city of Stavanger to the Arctic Circle. The best way to experience this extraordinary landscape is from the water. So, you need to take the Trollfjord cruise to navigate through these majestic cliffs. And thanks to Norway’s long summer days, the golden evening light stretches for hours. So, the cliffs are literally washed with the surrealistic glow of the long sunsets. Moreover, you get to enjoy the wildlife spots like puffins and porpoises to fully immerse yourself in the peaceful rhythm of Norway. The Secret Splendor of Trollfjord Trollfjord (or Trollfjorden) is a narrow fjord located in Northern Norway, nestled between the Vesterålen and Lofoten archipelagos. It stretches for around 2 kilometers. So, it is not one of the biggest fjords to explore. But the breathtaking beauty of the place balances the short stretch of it. Moreover, you can access the fjord only by using a boat to sail down, as the entrance is quite narrow. Around 100 meters wide, the entry leads to towering granite cliffs rising straight out of the glassy waters. Inside the fjord, you will see beautiful waterfalls and alpine peaks all around the place. Truly, the fjord offers a marvellous spectacle to nature lovers. Unlike more famous fjords like Geirangerfjord—which draw crowds and cruise liners—Trollfjord is remote, wild, and blissfully quiet. So, you can enjoy its tranquility while cruising. The Best Way to Experience Trollfjord? Go Small, Go Local One of the most important decisions you’ll make when planning a fjord tour is how you’ll see it. Large cruise ships are great for comfort and convenience—but they can’t get into Trollfjord.  The narrow entrance and tight turning space make it accessible only to smaller, more agile vessels. For an unforgettable and sustainable experience, book with a small, eco-conscious operator like World Sea Explorers.  Their Trollfjord tour is designed for travelers who want to get up close to nature—not just view it from a distant balcony. On a small ship, you’ll: Sail quietly through the fjord with fewer than 12 guests on board Get closer to waterfalls, wildlife, and cliffs  Hear stories and local legends from expert guides  Support sustainable tourism and low-impact exploration  It’s a fjord cruise experience that feels personal, peaceful, and immersive—more like a nature retreat than a sightseeing tour.  What You’ll See on a Trollfjord Cruise Each Trollfjord cruise is shaped by the weather, the wildlife, and the season, but here’s a taste of what you can expect: 🦅 Sea Eagles in Flight Trollfjord is famous for its population of white-tailed sea eagles, Europe’s largest birds of prey. These majestic raptors often glide close to the cliffs, circling boats and scanning the water for fish. 🐬 Marine Life Porpoises, seals, and even whales can be spotted in the fjord and surrounding waters—especially in early summer when marine activity peaks. 🌄 Towering Peaks and Waterfalls The granite cliffs on either side of the fjord are peppered with snowmelt-fed waterfalls. In summer, they cascade down like silver ribbons, especially after rain. 🌿 Pristine Silence One of the most powerful features of Trollfjord is the silence. With no road access and minimal boat traffic, the fjord has a serene, sacred quality that’s rare in today’s world.  When to Go: Best Season for a Trollfjord Tour Although the place is beautiful throughout the year, there is a specific seasonal time when you can best enjoy the place. During the months of May to September, Trollfjord has the longest summer days. So, you get to enjoy the mild weather and long hours of daylight while cruising or sightseeing the wilderness around. Moreover, if you are visiting around the months of June and July, you will get to experience the most awesome sunsets. With the midnight sun, you can enjoy the evening golden hours to relax or sail through the fjords. However, in August, the weather becomes slightly cooler. So, it is perfect for enjoying the cool sea breeze while cruising through the marine life. Also, you get to check the migratory birds and whales around the place. But if you want to truly immerse yourself in an offbeat location with few tourists and beautiful natural landscapes, try visiting during September. Amidst the autumn weather, you can enjoy the beautiful mornings and a hint of winter’s arrival in the air. Some tours also operate in the winter months, combining a fjord cruise with Northern Lights chasing. While Trollfjord may be harder to reach in icy conditions, you can cruise through the surrounding waters to see the Arctic starry skies. What to Pack Whether you’re visiting in summer or winter, dress in layers and prepare for rapidly changing weather. A waterproof jacket, warm base layers, and good shoes are essential. Don’t forget: A camera with a zoom lens (for eagles!) Binoculars Reusable water bottle and snacks Gloves, hat, and scarf even in summer—it gets breezy on the water  Extend Your Adventure in Lofoten & Vesterålen If you’re traveling this far north, you’ll want to spend a few extra days exploring the surrounding region.  The Lofoten Islands are postcard-perfect: colorful fishing villages, dramatic peaks, white-sand beaches, and cozy rorbuer (traditional fisherman cabins) you can sleep in. Vesterålen, just north of Lofoten, is quieter but equally stunning. It’s one of Norway’s best areas for hiking, kayaking, and whale watching.  You can also explore Sami culture and taste traditional Arctic cuisine in this lesser-traveled region.  Why Trollfjord Should Top Your Norway List If you are a traveler who loves experiencing unique and breathtaking nature, Trollfjord should be on your next trip plan. From the wilderness to the natural serenity, it offers you everything you need right in one place. It’s raw, powerful, and deeply moving—and the feeling cannot be replicated in any other place. By choosing a Trollfjord cruise in Norway with a small-ship operator, you’re getting more than just a photo dump. In a way, you’re immersing yourself in one of Norway’s most magical places. With the locals and the beautiful nature around, you are guaranteed to love the land, sea, and everything in between. With the craze of travelling for Instagram views, most of the tourist spots have become crowded. So, choose Trollfjord in Norway to immerse yourself in an offbeat trip to nature! Up Next..
