Play Airlines Reviews: My First Experience Shocked Me!

Aug 2, 2023

Travel Blog

I travel often, and I know many of you do, too. Recently, I tried Play Airlines, a new budget airline popular with Gen Z.

Founded in 2019, Play Airlines follows the motto “pay less, play more.” It offers flights from major East Coast cities in the US to destinations like London and Copenhagen.

Also, all these flights are hundreds of dollars less than those of other airlines. This is why it appeals to travelers looking to save money.

The airline carriers are among the best that offer ultra-low fares when traveling to Europe. So the new entrant in the market has appeared in the search results for Transatlantic flights after April 2022. The airline aims to bring visitors to Iceland and connect North America and Europe.

The airline started flying in 2021 in Iceland; however, in North America, the service began in April 2022.

Do you want to know more about the PLAY Airlines reviews? I will tell you about the airline, its foundation, and my experience? Keep reading!

This Is My Experience With Play Airlines!

When the airline carrier was first inaugurated, Play Airlines and Baltimore Airport collaborated to create a good impression in the form of a water cannon salute when the first plane of Play Airline pulled up to the gate. Overall, the first impression was quite well made by Play Airlines.

The staff is helpful and interactive. Another added advantage of a low-budget carrier airline. It is unheard of for a low-budget carrier airline to be perfect concerning its services.

I would also like to discuss certain shortcomings that I identified. Do give it a go before you book tickets on Play! The flight I traveled on was spacious, clean, and memorable because I was finally traveling to Paris, one of my dream destinations.

What Is Play Airlines?

What Is Play Airlines?

Play Airlines is addressed as the Ultra Low-Cost Carrier (ULCC), which is not completely uncommon. However, many carriers have additional charges based on transportation, which ULCC still needs! These airlines are perfect for passengers traveling on a budget like me!

My travel plans are concrete, and I am not free to have flexible dates and timings because I have a job! I am also one of those who do not care about luxury or frills added to necessities.

Therefore, I am functional when it comes to services such as Wi-Fi and entertainment charging points. Ultimately, I can adjust this much if I am traveling to a destination, especially for a vacation.

Play is the successor of Wow Air, a low-cost airline carrier that ran out of service in 2019. So, if you question, is Play Airlines safe? It is.

PLAY Airlines Reviews 2025: Did I like It?

My Experience On Flying With Play Airlines

So I was traveling to Paris from Boston and was charged $292 for a roundtrip. To begin with, this is quite a cheap deal that I have got on Play Airline. Another significant thing I noticed and did not expect was a comfortable seat and 34 inches of legroom.

Isn’t that amazing? Finding another airline that gives 34 inches of leg space might be challenging! It is quite unheard of in a budget carrier. The seats are Delta Comfort Plus, which is comfortable, and I was very relaxed throughout the flight. The chairs are tall enough for you to rest your head.

As a frequent flier, half of your problems are solved if the seat is comfortable! According to my Play Airlines review, it is quite comfortable to travel with this airline. The space for the leg also helps in extending the tray table. There was no charging extension or plug-ins in the Play flights, which is usually there in transatlantic carriers and U.S. airlines.

I found the crew very supportive and helpful. I had a very positive experience while interacting with the crew. No food or snack is free; however, this is one of the side effects of low-budget carriers. I did not see any food or water services throughout the flight except at the beginning and end.

What I Found Beneficial?

What I Found Beneficial?

In A321neo, headrests were present in each seat with extra padding and adjustable wings. When you fly Play Airlines, you will get better seating comfort than most of the low-budget flying airlines. The setting does help in creating a more comfortable sleeping position.

I also noticed that every seat had its lights and dedicated air vents. It helped me a lot because I am an avid reader, so there was no issue with my entertainment as I almost finished a book on the flight.

A significant advantage I found on Play Airlines is that there was no bundling, nor was the fare made complicated concerning overall expenditure. I also found the timings of the flights to be mostly punctual. The connecting flights to Europe via Keflavik are conveniently set.

Their food and drink collection is quite decent; you can order based on your requirement. There is also no connectivity, such as Wi-Fi, messaging, or entertainment.

What Did I Find Negative?

What I Found Negative?

I have heard that the seat arrangements are a mixed bag, such as seats with 34 inches of leg space, while some seats give you a meager 28 inches of leg space.

So, as a traveler, you should search on Google Flights regarding the space of the specific flights of Play Airlines before you book tickets. Make sure to check the legroom extension to have some wiggle room.

Another significant shortcoming that I noticed on the flight was that there needed to be more power. As a traveler, one thing that is essential in today’s time is charging your phone, which I wasn’t able to do because of no power.

You will not be getting any refund; hence, in case of cancellation from your side, you will need clarification with the services. Another thing that might look like a chore to you is creating an account to view or book seats and baggage fees.

The complete itinerary or any schedule based on base fare will only be accessible if you have an account on the official website, www.flyplay.com.

PLAY Airlines Reviews: Why Should You Go For It?

If you’re on the hunt for a budget-friendly way to travel, Play Airlines might just be the perfect fit.

I recently flew with them to Iceland, and I have to say, I was genuinely impressed with the comfort and cleanliness of the experience—especially given how affordable their fares are.

I’m already looking into booking another trip to Europe with them this fall! For those of us who prefer a more laid-back travel style, Play Airlines is ideal.

They get you where you need to go without the extra costs that typically come with mainstream airlines.

On my trip to Iceland, the money I saved on airfare allowed me to explore more once I got there.

I treated myself to a bus tour along the stunning southern coast and even checked out the unique Lava Show in Reykjavík, all without feeling like I was stretching my budget too thin.

Honestly, flying with a low-cost airline like Play opened up more opportunities for me and truly enhanced my overall travel experience.

How To Book On Play Airlines?

You have to visit their official website, but before that, search Google Flights. Accordingly, select flights and seats based on your preferences and make your payment.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. Play Airlines vs Icelandair: Which one is better?

Play Airlines for the cheapest fares on a no-frills flight, but expect to pay extra for amenities like bags, food, and seat selection.
Opt for Icelandair if you prioritize comfort, want complimentary amenities such as Wi-Fi and in-flight entertainment, and are willing to pay more for the added services.

2. How Much are PLAY Airlines baggage fees?

PLAY Airlines offers a pay-as-you-go model for baggage. Every fare includes one free personal item.
However, you will need to pay for checked baggage and additional services like seat selection.
For complete details on baggage fees, visit the PLAY Airlines Terms and Conditions page

3. Is There Food On PLAY Airlines?

Yes, you can purchase food and drinks onboard all PLAY Airlines flights from their onboard menu, but it is not complimentary

Play Airlines Reviews 2025: Should You Go For It?

My overall experience on Play Airlines was mostly positive. However, some of the shortcomings are quite significant. Having no power to charge your mobile phone devices can seriously put travelers who are traveling long distances at risk.

The only solution to this problem is carrying a power bank. You must be aware of these issues before you book a flight!

There are limited options to travel to Iceland if you cancel the flight you have booked, or if the authorities have delayed it.

Be Soothed And Meet History At Hot Springs National Park

BY  Sibashree Aug 20, 2024

The Arkansas Hot Springs National Park is a place where stories and histories are intertwined with natural abundance and unique geological features.  Home to 47 hot springs, this national park has been a place of healing and relaxation. These springs offer the ultimate spa treatment after you complete arduous hiking through the trails.    Are you ready to indulge in a therapeutic experience at this national park known as the American Spa? Let’s take a deep dive.  Also, I have grabbed this opportunity to talk about the rich history of the park.  Know The Hot Springs National Park History And Culture  The 5,500-acre landscape of the Hot Springs National Park tells us many tales from the trails and springs. This park has seen novaculite extraction by American Indians for thousands of years, as well as The Great Fire of 1878.  Even before the park’s designation as a Hot Springs Reservation in 1832, historic events like the Dunbar-Hunter Expedition took place here. Many historic places in the park, including the Hot Springs Mountain Tower, Arlington Lawn, and Stonebridge Area, have been narrating the stories of this park for centuries.  Hot Springs Mountain Tower Built in 1983, Hot Springs Mountain Tower is a great place for visitors to enjoy the panoramic view of the park and the surrounding area from a 1,256 ft height.  Don’t miss to catch a glimpse of the Ouachita Mountains from the open-air upper deck of the tower. The air-conditioned lower observation deck offers you the opportunity to explore exhibits related to the history of the locality and the park. Also, if you want to collect souvenirs, you can visit the gift shop at the base of the Hot Springs Mountain Tower. This tower was first built as a wooden structure in 1877 by Enoch Woolman. Further, in 1906, a new steel tower was built, and it was known as Rix Tower after Charles N. Rix, the then-president of Arkansas National Bank. However, the Rix Tower was taken down in 1971.  Bathhouse Row The Bathhouse Row is probably the most iconic and visited place in the Hot Springs National Park. It has 8 bathhouse buildings, all of them built between 1892 and 1923, adding to the historic and architectural value of the park. These eight bathhouses are: Lamar Bathhouse Buckstaff Bathhouse Ozark Bathhouse Quapaw Bathhouse Fordyce Bathhouse Maurice Bathhouse Hale Bathhouse Superior Bathhouse In 1987, Bathhouse Row with Grand Promenade became a National Historic Landmark District. Arlington Lawn The Arlington Lawn gets its name from the presence of the first two luxurious versions of the Arlington Hotel present here.  The first version of the hotel was built in 1875, and a second or grander version replaced it in 1893. The second version had a glorious run until 1923 when a fire broke it down. In 1925, the third Arlington Hotel (which you can see now) came up an unbelievable 500-room accommodation.  Whittington Park  Whittington Park got its name from Hiram Abiff Whittington, an early resident of Hot Springs. The greenway stretches along Whittington Creek, which stands between Sugarloaf Mountain and West Mountain.  Constructed in the late 1890s, Whittington Park was initially called Whittington Lake Reserve. You can enjoy a relaxing walk through this tree-shaded greenway.  Stonebridge Area  The Stonebridge Area is the best spot in the National Park to watch turtles. You will also see a waterfall area carving through step-like structures in the rocks.  Further, Lake Lillian, now known as Ricks Pond, is here with its tranquil beauty and turtles floating in the water.  What Is Hot Springs National Park Famous For?  Known as the American Spa, Hot Springs National Park has 47 natural hot springs. Since the early 1800s, people have been visiting this park to soak in the hot and cold springs here. Further, thanks to the healing geothermal waters here, bathhouses and a full-fledged bathing industry were built here. The average temperature of the bath springs water here is 143° Fahrenheit. You can soak in the springs in the Buckstaff and Quapaw bathhouses, as there are no opportunities for soaking in the water outdoors. You can even drink the water from these springs, and the geothermal water of the springs has healing properties.  Hot Springs In The National Park  Here are some of the hot springs in the national park. You will find hot springs In front of the Libbey Memorial Physical Medicine Center and the National Park Service Administration Building on Reserve St. Visit the Bathhouse Row and find the hot springs between the Hale and Maurice Bathhouses.  You will find the Noble Fountain at the Grand Promenade south entrance on Reserve St. If you want to touch the geothermal water of the springs, you can visit the shallow pool where the Display Spring falls.  Cold Water Spring Fountains  Happy Hollow and Whittington Spring are two cold water spring fountains in the national park. The origin of the Whittington Spring is the West Mountain, and the Hollow Spring comes from the North Mountain. Hiking And Camping In Hot Springs National Park Camping and hiking are two of the most fascinating things to do in Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas.  Hiking In Hot Springs National Park  Hot Springs and North Mountain Trails and West Mountain Trails are the two most popular destinations in the park for trekking. However, there is also a Sunset Trail, which is longer and passes through the remote areas of the park. Hot Springs And North Mountain Trails Along with the most amazing scenic view, these trails have highlight points such as Stephen’s Balustrade or the Grand Staircase, Gulpha Gorge Campground, Hot Springs Mountain Drive, and Fordyce Bathhouse.  West Mountain Trails If you want to explore the vivid wildlife of the Hot Springs, you will have to take the West Mountain Trails. Find the trails through the Canyon Trailhead and Whittington Park.  Sunset Trail The longest in the Hot Springs, the Sunset Trail, is a straight 10-mile hike. Also, if you want to complete the loop, you will have to cover 15-17 miles.  The best thing about this trail is that it takes you to places less trodden by in the park. Further, hiking in the long trail will be broken into three sections: West Mountain, Sugarloaf Mountain, and Stonebridge Road.  Camping In The Gulpha Gorge Campground This campground is most suitable for tents and RVs or recreational vehicles. Basic amenities like water, electricity, and sewage are available at the campground.  Further, there are facilities like pedestal grills and picnic tables.  You can stay for a maximum of 14 days at a stretch in the camp. In addition, the park authority does not allow camping for more than 30 days in a calendar year.  Final Words  The Hot Springs National Park has been consistently getting more than 2 million visitors for the last few years. In 2023, 2,502,967 people paid a visit to this park to indulge in the therapeutic experience of the hot springs, explore wildlife, and enjoy hiking. (Source) Further, you can never forget how significant this park is from the perspective of history and culture. Exploring the Stonebridge Area and spending some time in Whittington Park or other historic places in the park will help you learn how American Indians extracted novaculite from this park and made their tools and accessories.  In addition, prominent names in American history, such as Dr. Timothy L. Bottoms, Samuel Wesley Fordyce, and Robert Radcliff Stevens, are associated with this popular national park. So, you must visit this national park to enjoy nature at its best and see some pages of history unfurling before your eyes. What do you think of the other national parks in America, like the Biscayne National Park or the Everglades National Park? Don’t forget to share your ideas with us!  Hot Springs National Park FAQs  How Is Hot Springs National Park Wildlife? The Hot Springs is a crucial sanctuary for vivid animals. The “novaculite outcrops” and “lush creek valleys” make this national park a safe harbor for animals and birds.  Overall, this park has more than 50 species of mammals, over 100 bird species, 50+ fish species, and more than 70 species of reptiles and amphibians. The Copperhead snake is the most venomous reptile here, along with other venomous snakes. The park is also replete with lizards, frogs, salamanders, and turtles.  Bluegill and banded darter are some common fish in this national park. Further, this park is home to mammals like groundhogs, white-tailed deer, and squirrels. Moreover, pigeons, doves, falcons, herons, vultures, owls, and many other birds make this park delightful.  Also, watch out for the colorful butterflies and fireflies in the park. You can take these rides on bicycles or e-scooters.  Also, if you are a birder, you will get to see great blue herons, vultures, falcons, and many other birds in the national park.  Shopping and exploring the Mid America Science Museum are some other activities to do when you are at the Hot Springs.  What Is The Hot Springs National Park Size? The Hot Springs National Park stretches across 5550 acres. As one of the oldest national parks in the USA, this national park was designated in 1921.  You will find many hiking trails and as many as 47 natural hot springs in the national park. The campground, visitor center, and gift shop further make it a place of versatile encounters with nature and history. How Can You Avoid Travel Stress? Is Travel Anxiety Normal?

BY  Sibashree Sep 8, 2025

Yes, travel anxiety is normal. From a family trip to a business trip, travel anxiety happens. Being a traveler and travel blog editor, it still happens to me!  Also, the other day, I was reading a report on Newsweek about how Gen Z travelers on business trips feel super anxious. The report says,  “A new survey conducted by Ipsos U.K. and commissioned by American Express Global Business Travel (Amex GBT) found that while 70 percent of Gen Z employees aged 18 to 28 look forward to traveling for work, more than half called the experience stressful.” Nevertheless, referring to where I started, every kind of trip can be stressful, especially if you are like me, who has to take care of the itinerary, all the bookings, and other stuff. I, in fact, feel more stressed before traveling with my family, as for business travels, there is at least some assistance from my office.  So, for everyone, traveling is not as romantic as you may feel it is. Just the thought of being in a foreign location and not knowing anything—or knowing anyone—can bring about a lot of anxiety. It also doesn’t help to know that hundreds of things can go wrong during your trip. But travelling doesn’t have to be a pain because there are ways to avoid travel stress. From booking all inclusive holidays Thailand Phuket, to preparing yourself mentally, here are some tried-and-tested travel tips on how to handle travel stress.  How To Handle Travel Stress? It Starts With Traveling The Way You Want To… See, there has been a paradigm shift in the way we travel these days, and this I am speaking from my personal experience. There are so many Instagram stories, reels, or moodboards playing in our heads that we create a vague image of what is ideal.  But in reality, if you are not on a business trip, you don’t really need to fit in. You don’t need to have a bucket list of visiting XYZ places because everyone else is doing the same. Your plan of a vacation can be about sitting in a quaint cafe in Europe and having the best pastries and sandwiches there.  It’s absolutely okay! You really need to let it loose and indulge in the spirit of slow tourism where every moment spent is meaningful and cherishable for you.  That’s the best mantra I can give you on how to handle travel stress.  1. Always Plan Ahead “Failing to plan is planning to fail,” so the famous adage says—and it couldn’t be truer when travelling. From choosing the right destination to booking the right flights, having a good plan will not only make travelling a lot easier for you, but it will also keep you from mishaps that are costly and very stressful.  Always be realistic with your timelines when planning. For instance, when booking flights, make sure that you give yourself enough time to get to the airport, given your location.  If you’re departing from a busy airport, it’s best to book an earlier flight, so you can avoid the rush. If you have a layover, make sure that you have at least three hours free until your next flight to make room for possible delays that could make you miss your connecting flight. 2. Don’t DIY Your Trip If You’re Not That Type Of Person Here’s the thing: DIY isn’t for everyone, and that speaks true when travelling. Suppose you’re someone who has a hard time putting a grocery list together. Planning an itinerary can be extra stressful for you.  Thankfully, you don’t have to because there are all-inclusive options for many hotels and resorts around the world.  These packages already include everything from airport transfers to meals and activities. Yes, these are a little pricey; however, they reduce your stress.  3. Make Sure That You’re Mentally Prepared For The Trip Travel is beneficial for your mental health. However, it can also be the salve to your panic and anxiety when you are not prepared for it.  Many of us assume that travel preparation includes simply arranging airfare and packing bags. However, we must realize that travel equals experiencing a new destination, which takes us out of our comfort zone and routine.  So, before we completely lose ourselves in the disarray of travel preparation, it is really important to give ourselves time to prepare mentally for the trip. In addition to proper planning, be sure to squeeze in some familiar routines or activities in your travel schedule. For example, I am a coffee and bread person. So, I will not miss visiting the local coffee shop. However, I always look for a coffee shop near my hotel. Equally important, be sure to avoid last-minute preparation. For example, don’t pack your luggage the night before your early morning flight. It is a guaranteed way to make you tired and stressed before you even get on the airplane.  I make sure that everything is ready at least a day or two in advance. I need to relax and get some well-deserved rest before the trip! 4. Plan Activities To Keep You Entertained During The Boring Moments I still hate waiting at the airports. However, I don’t get as anxious as before about long flight delays. However, I have seen people getting fidgety and stressed on long flights.  I mastered the art of avoiding long-flight anxieties as I started planning travel activities for my daughter. I told myself, “If this little human can have activities planned for the flight, why not me?” So, now I carry my book and download the latest movie or series I want to watch. Of course, pack some snacks to keep my mind busy.  5. Keep Important Documents Protected Make sure to keep valuables in a secure bag. Additionally, it doesn’t hurt to take a scan of your documents. So have backup on your phone in case you lose your printed documents. So, always keep the emergency contact number of the country you are visiting handy. Travel safe! Family Fish Thunderonthegulf: What Are The Things To Keep In Mind Before You Go?

BY  Sibashree Apr 13, 2026

Traveling with family feels great. It becomes all the more exciting when it is about bonding activities or a thrilling event.  Now, on paper, planning a fishing trip with your little ones is great. However, executing the plan is not as easy as it looks.  Still, if you are searching for a spot in the USA for a fishing trip with your kids, you can choose the Gulf Coast.  The family fish thunderonthegulf event makes the Gulf Coast all the more special as a fishing destination with kids.  It is way beyond a regular day at the beach. So, keep reading to know about the adventure and fun.  What Is The Family Fish Thunderonthegulf Event? Is It Worth The Hype?  Yes, the family fish Thunderonthegulf event is absolutely worth the hype. In fact, it is a fascinating idea to spend the weekend with your kids.  In this event, you will see a wonderful fusion of the adventure of fishing and racing, along with the laid-back vibe.  So, it is a perfect weekend trip for a family that has small kids.  Moreover, you do not need any experience to be a part of this event. Also, there are a lot of activities to participate in, even if you do not like the main beach activities.  What Is The Family Fish Thunderonthegulf Event Actually About?  Have you ever been to the thunderonthegulf family fishing event before? You may think why it is more exciting than an usual weekend fishing trip with kids.  The answer is that the family fish thunderonthegulf event is way beyond just catching a fish.  Also, the family fish thunderonthegulf event is based on the idea that fishing becomes better when the people you love join you.  Furthermore, the Gulf of Mexico works as the perfect backdrop for fishing and more. In addition, you get big skies, warm water, and the open space that slows everything down.  So, you can pay more attention to what is happening around you.  Also, here, kids leave their mobile phones behind as parents stop checking their emails.  Moreover, it feels different when you stand on a boat and wait for a bite in a group.  You will even find families from the South and even farther joining this event. There are people from Texas, Florida, and Louisiana. Also, there will be participants from further islands to experience saltwater fishing on the Gulf.  Now, one thing that unites everyone is the assurance of having a real experience.  Things are not that polished and, in fact, at times messy. You will see someone is always dropping something in the water, and that’s the fun part.  Who Can Participate In The Family Fish Thunderonthegulf Event? Before signing up for this event, many people ask whether their family will find it suitable or not. It is good that family fish thunderonthegulf can actually accommodate a diverse range of participants. From beginners to seasoned anglers, everyone can be a part of this event and have a great time. Even if you have never tried fishing, the structure of the event will be suitable for you. Now, this is possible because the guides and charter captains here are experienced in managing mixed groups.  So, they can help a seasoned angler and a first-timer with the same expertise and commitment. Also, age-wise, the charters will also allow kids of 5-6 years. However, parents should check the same with the charter they have booked in advance, as safety requirements and boat sizes can change.  Moreover, the charters can accommodate older adults, too.  Families enjoy several types of charter vessels.  The vast majority of charter vessels are built and designed with seniors and children in mind.  However, if you have a mobility issue, it's best to reach out to a charter operator or organizer prior to your reservation.  Boats vary in accessibility, but the staff will work with you to determine the best boat for your family.  Your family won't need to worry about each person having a separate fishing license because the captain's license covers everyone on the boat.  That should make life easier for families with busy schedules. What To Expect At The Family Fish Thunderonthegulf? Charters, Species, And Conditions On The Water The Gulf of Mexico offers some of the best fishing in the country, and the thunderonthegulf event makes full use of that.  From red snapper and king mackerel to redfish, trout, and flounder, fishers get access to a wide variety based on when they go.  Inshore trips focus on smaller game like trout and redfish, as offshore trips dive into deeper zones where snapper and big open-water fish live. With young kids along, inshore fishing wins hands down.  The trips don't last long, the waves stay calm, and the bites come regularly, keeping kids engaged without relying on long pauses.  When boredom sets in after hours of stillness, there's no better fix than steady action under the sun. Offshore charters give a bolder experience with longer days at sea and chances to land bigger fish.  The Gulf can toss one around, mostly in rough weather, so motion sickness isn't rare.  Still, families should check their limits before jumping in. A few people may need meds or a doctor's approval if seas feel too harsh. Charter types for the celebration will include renting an entire boat for your family, as well as group trips where you will share the boat with other guests.  Renting the boat by yourself costs more, but you can have your own schedule, and you won't have other people to contend with when sharing the boat with you.  Group trips are less expensive and allow you to meet and make friends with other anglers. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has great data available at https://www.fisheries.noaa.gov to help you track the changing fish movement patterns from month to month, by region, and fish species in the Gulf Coast regions. How To Keep Kids Excited And Engaged At Family Fish Thunderonthegulf?  Without proper planning, long trips can make children lose interest.  The Thunder on the Gulf event has been created with children in mind, and the charter captains do a great job entertaining junior anglers for the day. Personal flotation devices are required for every trip. Children should be fitted and buckled in life jackets before they board.  For the protection of your children's skin, it is very important to be sun safe.  You will need to bring sunblock that is totally reef safe, together with UV protective fabric and a big-brimmed hat.  Remember to apply sunblock every two hours, as moisture will wash it away quicker than you think. Bring portable snacks, such as crackers, fruit, nuts, and a big supply of water.  Avoid heavy snacks if a member of your party is sensitive to the boat's motion. Remember to pack an entire lunch supply, as most charter captains don't provide it. To keep children involved while waiting for the fishing lines to move, you can give them responsibilities.  They can help track the day’s catch, check the fishing lines, or help with baiting the lines if they can.  Giving them a “job” ensures they feel part of the experience and not just a viewer. Keep a small dry bag handy with a few essentials: a spare set of clothes, a windbreaker for when the boat is at cruising speed, and polarized sunglasses for the little ones.  These lenses cut through the surface glare, allowing kids to actually see the fish underwater, a feature that usually becomes the highlight of their trip. The Fish Are Not Biting: What To Do?  Success is not guaranteed while fishing, and even the most experienced professional guides can have days when there is a lack of fish.  The Thunder on the Gulf family event features a lively coastal community, which means there are many ways to have fun off the water. The Gulf Coast towns are filled with personality, so for those who have a bad morning fishing on the water, they can spend the afternoon exploring.  Many families utilize the event weekend to sample the local seafood restaurants.  This is a rite of passage in this area. When you eat fresh Gulf shrimp, oysters, or grilled redfish, you feel a sense of culinary glory, whether or not you caught anything. The local ecosystem provides an amazing natural experience as well.  Dolphins frequently follow charter boats, while ospreys and pelicans can be seen flying above. For young children, one encounter with a dolphin can eclipse the day's fishing. You can also relax on the beach if you find yourself having a bad day fishing.  The Gulf Coast has some of the friendliest beaches in the country, and the smooth, gentle surf and soft sand can make for a low-stress afternoon.  If you are still full of energy, you can typically rent a kayak or paddleboard right by the event. How To Register And Plan Your Trip Around The Family Fish Thunderonthegulf Event?  The key to ensuring a pleasant experience at Thunder on the Gulf is advanced planning.  Due to the popularity of charters (particularly private charters), securing a charter early on is imperative, so as soon as registration opens, book your charter before you commit to lodging and other travel plans. When it comes to lodging, whether you're on a budget or prefer to stay in luxury, there's plenty to choose from along the Gulf Coast.  If you're traveling with a larger group, a vacation rental is generally the best option for comfort and value.  Having access to a kitchen is particularly advantageous for storing your catch and preparing family meals.
