Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981, the Olympic National Park covers an area of 922,650 acres. Also, 95 percent of this national park is designated wilderness.  Further, it is a rare coexistence of temperate rainforest and Alpine highlands. Also, you will find many lakeshores here. In addition, the National Park is home to snow-capped mountains like Mount Olympus, Mount Deception, and Mount Constance.  It will be an endless discussion if I talk about the attractions in the Olympic National Park. So, I decided to write an account of how I spent my day here. Of course, the Hurricane Ridge is the best sport to cherish a 360-degree view of the park.  Further, if you are here for some serious adventure, you can trek to Mount Storm King for a panoramic view of the park and its surroundings. Moreover, hiking through the steep trails and switchbacks is completely worth it. As you conquer the elevation of 609 meters, you will find the surreal Lake Crescent below. The water of the lake looks deep blue. Also, if you want to visit the shores along the Pacific Coast, you can visit Kalaloch and Ruby Beach. Hurricane Ridge Hurricane Ridge, a famous spot in the Olympic National Park for beautiful views, is also home to Olympic marmots. It comes with an elevation of 2064 meters, and it is at the epicenter of many adventurous activities in the park. Snowboarding and skiing are the most popular adventure activities here. Moreover, in the spring season, Hurricane Ridge gets filled with wildflowers.  2. Lake Crescent The thousand-year-old lake at the Olympic National Park will take you on a time travel. You will hardly find this species of fish anywhere else in the world. Beardslee is another species of fish only found in Lake Crescent. You will find many hiking trails near Lake Crescent. I loved the walk to Marymere Falls.  3. Sol Duc Falls The Sol Duc Valley in the Olympic National Park comes with many hiking trails. Among them, the path leading to the Sol Duc Falls is the most beautiful. You have to walk for around a mile to reach the waterfall.  You can even hike to Mink Lake or the Lover’s Lane to see Sol Duc Falls. However, these are longer routes in comparison to the trail starting from the Sol Duc Valley.  Moreover, as you reach the Sol Duc River here, you will find coho salmon in abundance. If you visit the place from late October to late November, you will find salmon leaping over the waterfall to reach the river. The place is famous as Salmon Cascades Overlook.  4. Peabody Creek Trail The Peabody Creek Trail is a short nature trail near the Olympic National Park Visitor Center. The trail starts from the parking lot, and it is a path in the park that you can access year-round. As you walk through the trail, you will find many picnic benches. So, it is a great place to explore with your family.  The trail loop with a moderate difficulty level will take you to Peabody Creek. Once you reach the destination, you can stick to the North and start hiking on the adjacent Aldwell Nature Trail to return to the Visitor Center.  Overall, it is a 5.2-mile hike and back journey.  5. Mora and Rialto Beach When you are immersed in the beauty of Lake Crescent and make a further move, go to the southwest. At a distance of 40 miles, you will find Mora and Rialto Beach. Here, you will experience how powerful nature can be. Also, the experience I had here is “dramatic” or “intense.” Moreover, when you are at Mora and Rialto Beach, you will see the best marine animals, like whales, sea lions, otters, eagles, and different seabirds.  If you want to spend longer at this pristine place and soak in the energy here, you can plan camping. You can even hike through the James Pond Trail.  6. Staircase The Olympic National Park has this staircase on its southeastern corner. As I visited this place, it felt like entering a kingdom of douglas fir. Further, here, you will find the Skokomish River. Many hiking trails run along this river to the forests.  You must take a walk through the trail over the bridge leading to the North Fork Skokomish River. Hiking through the old forest is the most serene experience you can expect.  The Shady Lane Trail is another path, and at the end of this trail, you will find the most beautiful Lake Cushman. Moreover, if you are ready to walk those extra miles and take some serious challenges, you can plan a hike to Flapjack Lakes.  When you are tired of hiking or exploring the Staircase at Olympic National Park, you can enjoy a relaxing bath at the swimming spots.  7. It does not fall straight like a curtain like many other waterfalls.  However, to reach the Tokopah Falls, you will have to complete a hike of around 3.5 miles. It is an easy route and even suitable for children and beginners. To see the waterfall in its full glory, you will have to visit the waterfall in spring or early summer. In this season, the waterfall is fed by snow-melted water from the mountains. As we approach the fall season, the flow of water in the fall becomes weaker or thinner.  Nevertheless, the fall looks beautiful in every season, with gigantic trees and gray rocks surrounding it.  6. Enjoying The Peaceful View Of The Crescent Meadow Taking a walk along the Crescent Meadow is one of the most peaceful things to do at Sequoia National Park in California. Here's what worked for me and for Mia's crowd.  Getting Around Without A Car  Dallas is not the most walkable of the big Texas cities, but Uptown and Downtown are the exception.   Along with the free M-Line Trolley I mentioned earlier, the DART light rail connects Downtown, Deep Ellum, and the Bishop Arts District.  A day pass runs a few dollars, which is a lot cheaper than parking downtown during the holiday season.   If you are headed out to the Dallas Arboretum or the Zoo, though, you'll want a rideshare or a car, since neither sits directly on a rail line.  Where To Base Yourself For This Itinerary  If your winter weekend revolves around the Yellow Rosa Deep Ellum pop-up and the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, staying in Downtown or Uptown keeps you within walking or trolley distance of both.  Furthermore, the Knife Steakhouse and Haywire dinners I mentioned!   If the Dallas Zoo After Dark and the Arboretum are higher on your list, a stay closer to Old East Dallas or the Lakewood area cuts your drive time to both venues considerably.   Either way, book your holiday-season stay early.   Dallas hotel rates climb noticeably in the weeks around the Arboretum's Christmas display and the Symphony's holiday concert run.  Also, rooms in Uptown in particular tend to sell out well before December.  A Quick Packing Note For Dallas Winters  With temperatures hovering around 2-14°C and rainfall running lighter than usual this year, a warm layer for the evenings and comfortable shoes for walking the Arboretum's 66 acres will cover most of what this itinerary throws at you.   A light rain jacket is still worth packing, since Texas winter weather can turn without much warning. For someone fed on Hollywood staples, a visit to Los Angeles can be the biggest calling. Visiting Universal Studios Hollywood or hiking to the Hollywood sign are some of the best things to do in LA for a movie buff. Further, Los Angeles has been a tourism hub since the late 1800s. With the foundation of the Merced Theatre and transportation systems, the city started attracting travelers. It is fascinating to see the city maintain the same craze in the age of social media. Today, you type #losangeles and will find 86.8 million posts popping up. So, I have been thinking of sharing a to-do list in the city for the longest time. Things To Do In LA For Once In A Lifetime Experience | Make The Movie Buff In You Happy  Los Angeles is the “Entertainment Capital of the World.” It is the Mecca of movie lovers, with names like Al Pacino, Clint Eastwood, and Marilyn Monroe gracing the city and its corners.   In other words, “Hollywood” is the biggest draw for visitors to this city.   So, among the things to do in LA for a once-in-a-lifetime experience, I have included activities like hiking to the Hollywood sign or walking along the Hollywood Walk of Fame.  1. It is the biggest New Year celebration in Hollywood.  So, a visit to Universal Studios Hollywood is one of the top once-in-a-lifetime things to do in Los Angeles with kids.  3. Enjoy A Stroll Along The Hollywood Walk Of Fame A walk along Hollywood Boulevard is one of the best things to do in LA for once in a lifetime. You will find golden stars dedicated to your favorite star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Moreover, you will feel the glamor of Tinseltown. Spend Some Time At Venice Beach You can visit Los Angeles and, for the most relaxing time, head to Venice Beach. Further, these exhibits span from the 11th to the 21st centuries.   Further, the Art Museum bustles with 45000 works of art and has the best British, European, American, and Asian works.   Along with sculptures, the Art Museum also has paintings, photographs, decorative arts, and prints.   Moreover, the Botanical Garden stretches over 130 acres, and it has more than 80000 living plants. Some of these are even endangered. So, if you are a nature lover or interested in plants, a visit to this Botanical Garden will be one of the once-in-a-lifetime things to do in Los Angeles this weekend.  8. Drive At The Christmas Tree Lane https://www.instagram.com/p/C1vuavPuOuf/?hl=en If you are in Dallas in December or January, a drive at the Christmas Tree Lane is one of the most festive things you can do.  The festive lights go on at the Christmas Tree Lane from December 7th after an illumination ceremony. The lights remain up until New Year’s Eve. And guess what! A drive down Christmas Tree Lane is one of the free once-in-a-lifetime things to do in Los Angeles.  Taking a drive through Christmas Tree Lane or Santa Rosa Ave feels great, with the cedars gracing the road. Best Time To Visit LA And Getting Around Without A Car Before you build your once-in-a-lifetime LA itinerary around the Hollywood Sign and Griffith Observatory, it helps to know when to go and how you will actually move between them.   This city is notorious for its traffic and its sprawl.  When To Visit For Fewer Crowds And Better Views  Winter, especially the stretch covered by Universal's Holidays event and the Christmas Tree Lane lights, is one of the more comfortable times to visit LA.   Daytime temperatures usually stay mild enough for outdoor hikes like the Hollywood Sign trail.  Also, the winter haze that can blur the view from Griffith Observatory tends to clear after a rain.  So, you get sharper coastline views.   Spring and fall bring similarly mild weather with fewer holiday crowds at attractions like Universal Studios.   Summer is the busiest and hottest stretch.  So, if you are set on the Charlie Turner Trailhead hike, an early morning start becomes less optional and more essential.  Getting Between Hollywood, Venice, And Griffith Park  Los Angeles Metro's B Line (Red) connects Union Station to Hollywood/Highland.  It puts you within walking distance of the Walk of Fame, and a day pass costs only a few dollars.   However, Griffith Observatory and Venice Beach are not directly served by rail.  So, plan on a rideshare, the DASH shuttle to Griffith Park on weekends, or a rental car for those two stops.   If you are combining the Hollywood Sign hike with the Observatory in one day, doing the hike is the first thing in the morning.  Also, you can drive to the Observatory afterward avoids the worst of the afternoon parking crunch at Griffith Park.  Parking Tips For Griffith Observatory  Since the free lots near the Observatory fill quickly on weekends, arrive before 10 AM.  It is your best shot at a spot without a long downhill walk.   If you are traveling with family or arrive later in the day, paid parking near the Observatory or a shared ride drop-off saves you the search entirely.
