Travel Guides

We know that you want to go out for a vacation and escape the shackles of reality for a few days. Letting yourself loose every once in a while will sound interesting for many trippers.

Who does not like to go to a place where you have never been before? Learning about the cuisine, people, history, architecture, fashion, and more about a foreign land sounds pretty interesting for every vacationer. This has over time become the driving reason why many people want to go on a vacation. To organize everything about a vacation from the boarding of flights, hotels, and even transportation, a good travel agency must make all these processes simple. This is where Expedia comes into play – one of the best travel agencies globally.

So what makes this travel agency an excellent choice for trippers, and why should you consider some positives and negatives about its services.

Therefore, if you want an in-depth Expedia review, continue reading to find it yourself.

What Is Expedia?

Expedia is a travel agency company that was established in 1996. Though many tourists do not know this, it is a subsidiary of Microsoft, one of the biggest technology companies in the world.

It is a part of Expedia Group Inc., which also owns various other subsidiaries like Trivago, Hotwire, Travelocity, Car Rentals, and HomeAway (now rebranded as Vrbo). This group created Expedia as a travel agency website after its launch in 2001.

This agency excels in offering holiday services for tourists like booking flight tickets, renting transportation mediums (cars and buses), booking reservations for tourists at excellent hotels, and lots more.

How To Create An Account In Expedia?

When you open the website for the first time, you can see the list of all the places you can go to, their associated holiday packages, and more. If you decide to book anything from its website, you will be greeted with a text that says you need to be a registered user of Expedia.

After traversing through the various menus of this website, I have found out that creating an account and registering on the website is entirely free and easy to do, along with the registration process being completely free.

To do so, you need to:

  • First, open your browser on your smartphone or computer.
  • Next, go to the official website of Expedia.
  • Next, click on the “Sign In” menu in the top right corner of the screen.
  • A form will open up where you must give your account details like email addresses, names, and passwords.
  • Another page will open up after that, where you need to provide your house address and bank account details.
  • After you have provided all the details, the agency will send a verification mail to your email address. Click on the link sent to you to complete the process.

That’s the whole process of becoming a registered user of Expedia. Now you can make any bookings through the website and plan your vacation in the best way possible.

Services Offered By Expedia

The primary services offered by Expedia are:

1. Book Flights

Booking Expedia flights is one of the easiest things that I have ever done, and I am not bragging. After years of being an active tourist and going on several vacations every year, I found out that it provided the quickest means of booking flight tickets to any destination that you want.

You have to go to their website and set the location you want to book a flight to. After you have done so, the webpage will show the current price chart on the screen, which shows which flights are available from the airport of your choice, its prices, and many other amenities like what food and provisions will be given to customers on the flight.

2. Book Hotel Reservations

When you go to a place for a trip, you definitely need to book a hotel room that gives you the best services and rooms for its price. However, your smartphone and an internet connection will suffice instead of going to various hotels and checking them out individually.

When I decided to go on a vacation and wanted to make Expedia hotels reservations, I found it easy to do so through the website. The web pages have all the information about hotels like their price structure, picture of the rooms, customer reviews, and even their distance from the best coffee shops nearby.

Booking hotels from this website is intuitive because it provides essential information about hotels and even customer reviews. In addition, you can get the option to book hotel rooms when you are booking a flight.

3. Rent Cars

If you want to go to a place that requires you to travel by car, you can do so beforehand from this website. This website allows you to rent cars, bikes, vans, and even buses depending on the size of your party. This is great since it will enable you to make a short trip to the closest Starbucks or Cafe Coffee Day with rented vehicles.

4. Go On Cruises

If you are interested in going on a cruise with your partner, you can easily do so through this website. Just select a place and the time you want to go on a cruise.

The website will automatically search for all the available cruises during that period. This makes it fast and easy to book cruises and even check out the events and amenities provided on deck.

User Reviews Of Expedia

After using the services of Expedia to plan a holiday trip of mine, along with reading the reviews left by other users. Together, I figured out some benefits and drawbacks of using this travel agency as your holiday planner. They are:

Pros

Some of the best things about Expedia that I liked are:

1. Lots Of Choices

The amount of choice presented by this website is staggering, making it one of the best travel sites. You have details about every important tourist place globally and even have travel and tour plans made up for such positions.

Therefore, deciding on what to do during the trip and booking flights, hotels, and even other transportation options is pretty easy using this website. You can also check what is near the hotel, like the closest Cafe Mocha.

2. Affordable Packages

If you decide to book your flight, hotel, and other amenities using this website, you can offer various discounts. They allow you to avail of these offers if you opt to book the total package.

3. Intuitive Website

The website is designed smartly to get every information about the tour you are planning right from the get-go. It is effortless to navigate the various menus of the website, making it easily scrollable even on mobile devices.

Cons

Some of the major drawbacks of Expedia that many users and I have faced are:

1. Poor Customer Service

In my honest opinion, and according to reviews left by other users, the Expedia customer service is abysmally poor. This is the most common complaint that almost every user has complained about.

The biggest complaint is refunding canceled bookings. It is almost impossible to get a refund in such situations. This has happened a lot because when it comes to asking for refunds, this agency never seems to care and purposely decides to stop all communication.

2. Infrequent Updates

The updates to the website are rare because older information about hotels is present, along with seats available on flights. When I tried to book a flight, it showed me that no seats were available for the flight even when the website showed that seats were available.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):

Q1. How Do I Talk To A Real Person At Expedia?

How do I speak to someone at Expedia” is one of the most asked questions. You can do this by visiting their website and calling the customer care number provided there.

Q2. Can I Cancel An Expedia Trip?

Yes, you can cancel an Expedia trip.

Q3. Does Expedia Have Free Cancellation?

Free cancellation is only available if you cancel within 24 hours of booking a flight or a hotel.

Q4. How Do I Get An Expedia Refund?

You need to contact customer care to get a refund.

Conclusion

If you want to book flights, hotel rooms, and even extra transportation services, Expedia is one of the best choices. It has an intuitive website that provides a lot of information about the flights to and from the location.

However, even though it provides excellent services, its customer support service is its weakest point. It appears that the staff presented had no idea about how to respond to certain situations.

Day Trips From Cleveland: Discovering Cuyahoga Valley National Park

BY  Ankita Nov 20, 2023

Looking for exciting outdoor activities near Cleveland? Head to Cuyahoga Valley! Bridging the gap between Cleveland and Akron, the amazing north-south national park offers you multiple outdoor leisure options. You will be delighted to explore its waterfalls, hills, and caves. At the same time, the meandering river views create a unique background for landscape photography. Hiking, boating, biking, camping, and sightseeing available within the park won’t make you bored. Not to mention the picturesque walks through steep narrow ravines, rocky floodplains, and lush contrasting farmland. Animal life is also abundant there. The area is home to wild species such as beaver, deer, and dozens of varieties of birds, including wood duck and heron. So, cruising Cuyahoga Valley National Park is definitely on the list of the best Cleveland day trips. If you are planning such a ride, find all the necessary information below. How Did The Park Begin?  The roots go back to the mid-19th century when it was simply a popular vacation spot for city residents. However, in the 1960s and 1970s, rapid commercial development and urban expansion began to threaten the rural areas of the northeast Ohio region. Locals and environmental groups have pressured the government to preserve the scenic natural environment of the undeveloped territory between Akron and Cleveland. Based on the results of the contamination analysis, corporate giants such as Ford, Chrysler, General Motors, and 3M were forced to pay for cleanup work. The park was closed in 1987 for cleaning and was finally re-opened only in 2011. What's Interesting In The Park?  With an area of nearly 10,000 hectares, the Cuyahoga Valley includes several natural areas such as forests, rivers, lakes, waterfalls, wetlands, meadows, hills, and ravines. As a result, you can enjoy a variety of recreational activities - hiking, biking, kayaking, sledding, and cross-country skiing to mention a few. Visitors will also be pleased to take a scenic train ride through the valley. Let's look at the major things that are worth researching within the area. Nature And Wildlife In Cuyahoga Valley You probably imagine yourself leisurely strolling through the park, inhaling the morning aromas of the awakened forest. Then, you see a fox running in the distance or a turtle slowly crawling between the bushes. Luckily, this is possible in the Cuyahoga Valley. The natural vegetation of the national park consists of mixed mesophytic forests with many deciduous trees such as oak, maple, hickory, and beech. Other natural habitats such as wet grasslands, wetlands, and old field habitats alternate with these forests. According to statistics, the area between Cleveland and Akon supports more than 943 plant species. However, about 20% of them are not of local origin. 16 species of these exotic plants are considered invasive and pose a significant threat to the park's native plant communities. The wildlife in this reserve includes a variety of representatives living in the water, on land, and in the air. Starting with 8 species of frogs and 9 species of salamanders, the list of recorded inhabitants consists of about 20 species of reptiles (11 snakes, 8 turtles, and 1 skink). Not to mention over 39 species of mammals. These include coyotes, raccoons, red foxes, beavers, skunks, river otters, moles, opossums, bats, and white-tailed deer. Also, the park is home to more than 250 species of birds. Some of the famous species include peregrine falcons, bald eagles, Canada geese, great blue herons, yellow warblers, goldfinches, blue jays, woodpeckers, etc. The park’s nature potential is so big that you are sure to discover the naturalist in you while exploring the local hiking trails! Scenic Hikes In Cuyahoga Valley  Walking is the best way to thoroughly explore the local landscapes. Moreover, you have more than 125 miles of specialized hiking trails of varying difficulty levels and elevation changes. Check out the TOP-3 most popular ones below. Brandywine Gorge Trail  This 1.4-mile-long loop trail takes you to Brandywine Falls - the area's most iconic highlight. To get started, walk down to the overlook point and watch the waterfall into the 70-foot-deep gorge. Your hike may end here, but we recommend continuing along the embankment and seeing the coastal natural beauty. The entire walk takes approximately 30-40 minutes at a leisurely pace. If you want to avoid the crowds of tourists at the waterfall, plan to start your hike before 10 am. The Ledges Trail  If you're looking for a trail to explore the park as thoroughly as possible, you've found it. The 1.8-mile-long route passes ledges, the so-called flat sandstone formations jutting out of the bedrock. Nature has created a whole architectural ensemble of such formations, and now you can stroll through its labyrinths. Stones covered with moss add mysticism and a special atmosphere to this place. Icebox Cave is one more iconic place to visit along the way. Expect to spend about 50-60 minutes on this scenic hike. Blue Hen Falls Trail  Prepare your legs for a challenging route with a lot of elevation change. However, you will receive great rewards for your efforts. You'll walk about 3 miles of dirt trails, with a short section running along Boston Mills Rd. The final point of your hike is Blue Hen Falls. The route is replete with enchanting forest panoramas and you will get multiple spectacular overlooks along the way. The average time needed to complete the trail is 1 hour and 20 minutes. Waterfalls In Cuyahoga Valley National Park  The unique geological structure of the region with large differences in elevation and the presence of rivers and streams contributed to the formation of waterfalls. In total, there are about 100 waterfalls in the park, with most located in the northern section. Among the most famous are: Brandywine Falls (70 ft) Bridal Veil Falls (20ft) Blue Hen Falls (15 feet) Falls (15 feet) Great Falls of Tinkers Creek (20ft) How To Get There And Navigate Around?  Regular buses run to/from the park, but nothing is more enjoyable than exploring it on your schedule. Therefore, we recommend that you go to Rental24h.com and book a car rental at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. You get access to multiple Cleveland Airport car hire deals in different categories, allowing you to choose the perfect vehicle for your specific needs. Once you're behind the wheel, head to the Boston Mill Visitor Center. From downtown Cleveland, get on I-77 S and drive approximately 15 miles south. Then, take exit 146 toward I-80/Toledo/Youngstown and keep right to follow signs for OH-21/Richfield. After this, turn right onto OH-21 S/Brecksville Rd, and after half a mile turn left onto Boston Mills Rd. Finally, drive over Black Rd and continue onto Boston Mills Rd to arrive at your destination. The Cuyahoga Valley visitor center is open from 9:30 am to 5 pm every day and provides information on in-park routes and local activities. If necessary, the staff will help you plan your upcoming trip and show you a specialized place to stay. So, consider an outing to Cuyahoga Valley when deciding between various day excursions from Cleveland. Both you and your children will enjoy this outdoor experience. Moreover, any time of the year is excellent for your ride. The average annual temperature in the region is about 18°C (65°F) with about 528 mm of precipitation per year. The highest temperature reaches around 27°C (81°F) in July, while the lowest temperature drops to -1°C (31°F) in January. However, the period from mid-spring to mid-autumn is the most pleasant due to the comfortable weather. Warm Winter Wanders: January Destinations to Soak Up the Sun

BY  Abdul Aziz Dec 30, 2023

Come January, and you can't help but stare out the window. As the temperature drops, you daydream about visiting somewhere warm. We are here to give you ideas about warm places to visit in January. Fortunately, January is a fantastic month to travel. Rates start to decline as the holiday rush fades, making it the perfect time to take a flight to sunnier and greener pastures. Naturally, it depends on your goals. Nothing compares to visiting the Serengeti in January for a warm-weather bucket list trip. When it comes to finding a good airfare deal, keep an eye on flights to Hawaii. This is when prices drop to attract travelers and boost the state's economy following the Maui fire. Visit Curaçao for the best of everything, including warm weather, direct flights, beaches, culture, and cuisine. Stay at the recently opened adults-only boutique Kura Botanica. It is housed in a UNESCO World Heritage building. This is a surefire way to beat the winter blues. It's more of a hidden gem in the Caribbean, at least to Americans.  Where Is It Hottest In The US?  Hawaii and Puerto Rico will likely be the warmest places in the United States in January overall. The Sun Belt region stretches from Southern California to North Carolina. It includes cities like Miami, Houston, Fort Lauderdale, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Antonio, Phoenix and more. It is the central attraction on the mainland. If travelers seek to avoid the cold and snow, many warm-weather U.S. locations wind up with extended high seasons that last into January. Following the cost of travel to particular locations will give you a good idea of how eager those locations are to welcome more tourists.  Warm Places To Visit In January  January is the month of new beginnings. It is when the snow gets all the more spiteful too. If you want to escape the cold and soak up some warmth we are here to help. Here are some of the best warm places to visit in January.  Palm Springs  Warm places to visit in January? Some sunshine? Low seventies for highs? Palm Springs in January is absolutely idyllic. The stylish haven in the Sonoran Desert is well-known for its iconic architecture, mid-century aesthetic, and seductive stories from the heyday of Tinseltown. That begs the issue of where you intend to stay. There are many chic hotels available, regardless of your preference for modern design or classic glamor. We also adore the notion of renting an amazing home built in the well-known neighborhood where Elvis and Priscilla spent their honeymoon. Of course, no matter where you live, a pool and jacuzzi are necessities. Complete your schedule with a historical walking tour to discover the locations of the Rat Pack's parties, taking the obligatory pictures under lush palm trees, pampering yourself with spa services, going antique shopping, and spending a day at Joshua Tree National Park connecting with the natural world.  Chiang Mai  The hot weather in January makes South East Asia itineraries popular, according to Lee Thompson, co-founder of the international travel agency Flash Pack. In particular, Chiang Mai, also known as the “Rose of the North” is a constant reminder that Thailand is more than just the islands of Koh Samui and Phuket. The historic Lanna Kingdom's capital enchants visitors with its laid-back vibe and vibrant culture. The city is home to hundreds of lavish Buddhist temples, such as the glittering Wat Phra Singh. It is located near lush rainforests, majestic mountains, and elephant sanctuaries. Chiang Mai's climate is marginally cooler than Bangkok's. You can spend more time sightseeing without getting sweaty through your gauzy printed pants. Sincerely, it will still feel quite warm.  Yucatan Peninsula  Cancún, Playa del Carmen, and Tulum have made the Yucatan Peninsula a tourism hotspot. You probably haven't heard of Campeche, though. That's alright, because until recently, we did not know much about it either. This less-traveled port city exudes history and charm. January is the ideal month to visit because of the mild weather. You will want to spend time exploring the hilltop fortresses, colonial buildings with sherbet hues, cobblestone streets, and UNESCO-listed walled historic center. The waterfront promenade is a great place to stroll at sunset or jog in the morning. Take a tour of Edzna's artisan, culinary, and archaeological offerings, or peruse its historical artifacts. If you want to find warm places to visit in January, you can bet on Yucatan Peninsula as your Vitamin D supplement.  Phuket  Everyone adores Phuket. From celebrities and honeymooners to spring breakers and backpackers. With its white sands, swaying palm trees, and turquoise tides, it will absolutely astound you. But the breathtaking scenery isn't the main attraction. The largest island in Thailand is home to hundreds of hotels, a renowned nightlife, mouthwatering regional cuisine. It also houses Buddhist temples, and famous diving spots. You can still find genuine deals here. January is the best month to visit and it's now a fully fledged tourist destination. For example, a deluxe room at the Renaissance Phuket Resort & Spa, a lovely oceanfront property with chic decor and excellent service, will set you back $150 per night as of this writing. Couples will adore Trisara, which romantically dazzles with a Michelin-starred restaurant, a luxurious spa, and a private beach. Although it is more expensive, it is unquestionably worthwhile for an exceptional anniversary trip or an extravagant international vacation. Hostels in the vibrant town of Patong, on the other hand, start at $8.  Grand Cayman  Grand Cayman is the ideal Caribbean retreat. It is noted for its tranquil waters, vibrant coral reefs, and mostly, its breathtaking Seven Mile Beach. Among the most popular activities are fishing, stand-up paddle boarding in a bioluminescent bay, ray catching, and snorkeling. Visit George Town to witness the enormous cruise ships docking at the port. The Cayman Islands National Museum and the remains of a fort from the colonial era are also located in the nation's capital. The Cayman Cookout is coming back (January 10–14, 2024), and foodies won't want to miss it. This delectable event, which takes place at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman, brings together world-class chefs, sommeliers, and spirit enthusiasts. Among the previous headliners were Emeril Lagasse, Éric Ripert, Deedee Niyomkul, and José Andrés.  The Bahamas  Here is another spot that you can consider as your fix for warm places to visit in January. The Bahamas' soft, silky sand, vibrant coral reefs, and delightful island breeze are unmatched. Particularly in the nation's capital, Nassau. It is also one of the busiest cruise ship destinations and the location of the famous The Atlantis Resort. You know, the one that was a frequent hangout for Michael Jackson. Now it also has a suite bearing the pop icon's name. A seven-day trip for two can run up to $3,000. If you choose to stay somewhere else, day passes starting at $135 gives you access to everything the resort has to offer. For example, swimming with dolphins, a 30-minute lazy river, and water slides, to name a few. After that, you can head into town to shop and eat with both locals and visitors.  Wrapping Up  We hope that you are now eager to start your January vacation. Remember to keep this article handy before you venture. At Tour & Travel our mission is to provide you with up-to-date, comprehensive information at your fingertips. Wherever you travel in January, we hope you have an amazing time. If you have thoughts to share or questions to ask about warm places to visit in January, please leave a comment below.
