Safety Precautions You Need to Trek

Safety Precautions You Need to Trek

There are some precautions which you need to take when traveling to Meghalaya, especially when you go to Mawryngkhang Trek. Follow the precautions that I am mentioning below and do implement them so that you resolve any issues.

Respecting Nature

Meghalaya is known for its nature and respecting nature is one of the most important rules here. When you have decided to go on a vacation, trekking to different places, visiting waterfalls and other elements, do respect nature.

You must respect the environment there and follow the available trail. Try not to walk all over the flowers, plants, roots and trees while going off road. It damages the plants along with increasing the risks of hampering many unique plants.

Also, please do not litter on the forest floor! Trails are often filled with plastic packets and wrappers of food, drinks, and other used things. Please avoid doing that because it disrespects nature.

Follow Bridging Rules

One of the most important elements that you will find mostly everywhere in Meghalaya when outdoors is the bamboo bridges. These bridges are mostly manually designed hence, the capacity of the bridge is limited.

It is therefore advised that only one person crosses a bridge at a time. Please remember this and accordingly cross one at a time so that the next person can cross it relaxedly.

Hire Local Guides

You can hire a local guide because it is not just about you experiencing something adventurous but also about enhancing the overall experience. The terrain might not be completely understandable to you because you are visiting it for the first time.

This is where a local guide will help you because they know the landscape better than you. Additionally, the local guide also helps you if there is an emergency such as a fall, cut and gashes to the skin, sprained ankle and others.

No Accommodation

This is one of the most important things to know especially because it will dictate your overall plan to visit Meghalaya. There are no accommodation or lodge facilities available in Wahkhen, which is the nearest location to Mawryngkhang Trek.

It is better if you book your stay somewhere else. Accordingly arrange your own transport and visit the place. Then you can go ahead and do the trek which once completed, arrange your own transport to pick you up to return.

Be Prepared for Heights

The trek is a bit difficult due to its height as you will have to cross steep climbs while on the trek. There are several narrow bridges which you need to cross while on this trek hence, if you are fearful of heights, you need to reconsider the trek. It is better to avoid the trek if you have serious issues of height.

Start Early

If you are someone who loves tranquility, this is the place for you. However, you need to start early when going on Mawryngkhang Trek so that you are not forced to speed up if there is a line behind you. Considering the place is quite popular for trekking, there is a bit of a rush.

It is better if you go early and enjoy your trek, taking time and relaxing while trekking. Instead, if you constantly fret about how there are people behind you and the narrow climbs and bridges ensure that you must make a single file while trekking.

A stunning view awaits you on your trek to Mawryngkhang Trek because the trails are filled with unique flora and fauna. You experience beauty in all its glory where there is no human influence. Instead, it is all just the lush green beauty of nature.

Why Solo Adventures Can Be Life-Changing

BY  Sibashree Sep 1, 2025

Ever thought about just… taking off somewhere by yourself? No schedules to match, no arguing over playlists, no “where do you want to eat?” back-and-forth.  Just you, a bag, and the road. Sounds fun, right? Also a little scary, I know. But here’s the thing, solo trips end up being some of the most eye-opening experiences people have.  You’re tossed out of the comfort zone, forced to trust your gut, and you notice things in a way you can’t when you’re tagging along with a group. And it’s not just a random personal choice anymore. More people are doing it. After the pandemic, especially, folks wanted out of the usual grind.  Travel sites keep reporting more single bookings. Instagram, TikTok—everywhere you look, someone’s posting about heading off alone.  Even in small places like Bandera, Texas, the solo-travel vibe is strong. There’s a weird kind of freedom in being alone with your thoughts in a new place.  Anyway, that’s what this post is about. I will talk about why your solo adventures change you and how you grow into bigger shifts. Also, I will discuss what to know so the trip feels exciting and safe. Where You Stay Shapes Your Solo Adventures When you’re by yourself, the place you stay matters a lot more than when you’ve got a group.  Comfort jumps up the list. Same with safety. But there’s also this other piece—connection. A good stay gives you something solid to come back to at night, not just a bed.  There’s no shortage of lodging in Texas. But if you are in Bandera, opt for Riverwalk RV Resort. If you end up in Bandera, Riverwalk RV Resort is a neat option. It kind of nails that balance.  Additionally, you can hole up in a tiny home or RV site if you want privacy, but you’re still around people.  It’s easy to bump into fellow travelers by the pool, around the fire pit, or on the walking paths. For solo folks, that little bit of community keeps things from feeling too quiet. And location? Huge. Stay near the action, which basically means near the trails, river, and town squares. And, you don’t need anyone else to nudge you into exploring.  In Bandera, you’ve got hiking, kayaking, and small-town events right there. The right stay makes solo travel feel both safe and adventurous, which is honestly the sweet spot. How Solo Adventures Mirror Bigger Social Trends This isn’t just about wanderlust. It reflects a bigger shift happening everywhere. People are leaning into independence. Also, it is quite evident that they are chasing flexibility and choosing experiences over things.  Moreover, remote work has blown the doors wide open. So, all of a sudden, you could travel without begging for vacation days.  And younger travelers especially? They’d rather collect memories than stuff, so yeah, solo travel fits. Studies show that time alone can improve focus, reduce stress, and even spark creativity. Also, the last few years have changed how people think. The pandemic was a slap in the face. It has taught us the most important lesson these heavy quotes couldn’t: life’s short, don’t wait around.  Toss in politics, money worries, all that, and suddenly more folks are saying, “Forget waiting for perfect timing, I’ll go now.” Solo travel lets you grab control of your own time. And there’s the mental health angle too. Alone time helps with stress, sparks creativity, and clears your head.  A solo trip feels like pressing reset. Not just another vacation, but a way to figure yourself out again. The Irony Of Meeting More People Alone Here’s the funny part: when you go alone, you actually meet more people. Weird, right? But think about it—groups stick together.  You’ve already got company, so you don’t reach out. Alone, you’re easier to approach. And let’s be honest, you’ll want to talk to someone eventually. So conversations happen. Maybe you end up sharing a table, maybe someone invites you along for a tour, maybe it’s just a quick chat in line.  Sometimes they’re tiny moments, sometimes lifelong friendships. You never really know. Of course, you’ve gotta use judgment. Solo travel makes you sharper about that. You get good at reading the vibe, trusting your gut, knowing when to say yes and when to walk away. That’s a skill that sticks with you. Practical Tips For Safer Solo Adventures Alright, so here’s the real-world stuff. Safety first, always. Pick places with good reviews. Share your plans with a friend. Keep extra copies of your ID somewhere safe. Non-negotiable. Pack light, too. You’ll regret dragging heavy bags when it’s just you carrying them. Essentials like a portable charger, first aid kit, and reusable water bottle make trips smoother. Insurance if you’re going longer—it’s boring, but you’ll thank yourself if anything goes wrong. And yeah, tech helps a ton. Google Maps, translation apps, online reviews—you’re rarely lost anymore. Just… don’t stare at your phone the whole trip. You didn’t fly across the country to look at a screen. What Solo Travel Teaches You About Yourself The coolest part isn’t really the destination. It’s what you figure out about you. When nobody else is steering, you find out what excites you, what stresses you, and what you’re actually capable of. You’ll surprise yourself, too. Maybe you handle public transport in another language. Maybe you fix a random travel hiccup on your own. Those wins pile up and you start realizing—hey, I can handle a lot more than I thought. But here’s the twist: being alone can also make you appreciate people more. Coming home after days of quiet makes a simple dinner with friends feel extra warm. You get this balance—you learn to enjoy solitude and community. That’s why solo trips are so powerful. They remind you that freedom’s possible, even in little doses. They show you you’re stronger than you give yourself credit for. And sometimes? The best travel buddy is just… you. At the end of it all, travel isn’t only about where you go. It’s about who you come back as. Read Also: Is New Orleans Safe as a Solo Traveller: Shared Experience! Learn All About the Best Solo Trip in India Right Here! Journey To The Skies: Exploring The Legacy Of Northwest Airlines!

BY  sagnika Aug 19, 2023

It was before me, but I have heard stories! Northwest Airlines' legacy was a legend, especially in the 1920s. What do you know about the airline? Let's discuss its features and drawbacks, giving you an idea of what today's airline brands are not! We need to know people's perspectives before we identify what went wrong! The bankruptcy resulted from the airline's inability to adapt to the changing trends of the low-cost carriers that ruled the 21st century. The rising oil prices and the slowing economy impacted the carrier's status! In this article, I will discuss some of the passengers' good experiences with the Northern Airline, considering it operated for a long time. We will also highlight some of the airlines' drawbacks based on the reviews of people from as early as 16 years ago! Journey To The Skies: Exploring The Legacy Of Northwest Airlines! To learn about the legacy of Northwest Airlines, we need to read about the first account-based narration that will show us the extreme competition under which the airline broke! Delta spent almost $2.8 billion acquiring Northwest, which had 309 aircraft in its fleet! The concern is that a flight company with 309 flights should not be shut down, but it shows that the brand needed to be more efficient. In the later few years, the company had serious maintenance issues with the flights, often leading to flight delays. I will be evaluating reviews about the airlines that will inform you about the way the airlines function. It will also make you aware of airline brands and their operations during the 1900s compared to low-cost airlines. About Northwest Airlines The airline has had several changes in its name over the years! So it can be confusing, but please bear with me as I discuss the important timelines of Northwest Airlines. The airline was founded in 1926 with the name "Northwest" and based in Detroit, Michigan. Initially, the airline moved mail across the United States but mostly focused on areas such as Minneapolis and the Midwestern cities of Chicago. It was late 1927 when passengers boarded the plane across the routes. It was in 1928 that the airline became an international one! Following mail scandals, the airline changed its name again to Northwest Orient Airlines. However, the airline's services were expanding, and by 1939, there were regular operations between Minneapolis and Chicago! Further destinations were added, such as Portland and Winnipeg. The airline further expanded its services to Asia and Japan by 1947. Manila, Hong Kong, Seoul, Shanghai, and other places were also included in the routes. With the Airline Deregulation Act passed in 1978, the airline expanded its services to the UK, Germany, and Scandinavia. In the 1990s and 2000s, with the rise of low-cost airlines, Northwest Airlines had tough competition leading to a loss of money. The direct services between the US and China could have done better! Further, in 2005 the demand fell along with the oil prices, especially with the 9/11 attacks. The Merger The airline was bankrupted in 2005; hence, they filed for bankruptcy protection! Once they were cleared after 2 years, they merged with Delta once it was approved at the end of the year 2008. The brand Northwest retired after the merging launch with Delta! Review Northern Airlines was doing well, especially when no other airline was in the market. With less competition, people were taking whatever they got! However, the airline faced severe issues with Northwest flight once the low-cost carriers came at the later end of the 2000s. The claims made by travelers who booked on this flight included all kinds of complaints starting from dumb staff to delays in flights. Another significant issue I have heard from people is that there was no announcement of flight delays. It isn't easy, especially when evaluating from the passenger's perspective. They might be coming from far off, and it would help if they were announced of the delay instead of waiting around the airport for hours! There are significant reasons why the airline closed, and if you read the drawbacks, I am sure you will know why! Benefits Certain features enabled the airline to function effectively in the previous days! However, in the long term, they could not maintain the quality of their services. Let me highlight the advantages that travelers experience when booking on NW Airlines flights. You would be charged if you ordered a specific meal or beverage on the airline. However, the snacks and water were free. The airfare was quite affordable, especially with the services Northern Airlines provided. It was quite a satisfactory price to pay for tickets at that time. Shortcomings Some of the shortcomings had the power to impact and influence the closing of the airline. It is because customers, at a certain point, became so dissatisfied with the services that the sales fell significantly. Along with the sales, there was also the issue of increasing oil prices, due to which the company needed help to function properly. Flight maintenance was deteriorating as it often became a significant reason for technical issues to crop up in aviation. It led to flight delays making passengers wait and suffer. One of my aunts once traveled on this airline and told me she had to wait a few hours due to technical glitches. Further, the staff members of Northwest Airlines have been stated as incompetent and lazy by many customers who have boarded flights. According to a review in Customer Service Scoreboard, an anonymous assessment informed that the company is failing its quality customer service. The seating space was quite cramped as the aircraft was smaller in size. It created severe issues with people having long legs. Matters were also faced by senior citizens who consistently suffered due to the seating arrangements and comfort. What Do We Know? So, Northern Airlines might be one of the best airlines at some point in history, but like the mighty dinosaurs, it could not adapt to the changing needs and times. The airline's downfall started in the 2000s when the low-cost carrier made it difficult to survive! Customers were also dissatisfied with the airline. Hence, the sales of tickets also dropped. It led to further economic losses along with the increasing oil prices. Comment below regarding your perspective of Northern Airlines and what they could have done to survive!
