Tokyo is a beautiful place, and I feel everyone must visit the place once in their lifetime. With beautiful views of mountains, rivers, cherry blossoms, and more natural elements, you can enjoy the place to its hilt.   With me sharing some of the delicious food, the safest and nicest place to stay, and things to do, you can make your plan for one day in Tokyo. Additionally, you also need to know where to stay if you are living for a longer period.   One of the most exotic places to travel, Tokyo is beautiful to visit. Some of the coolest, most interesting, and safest neighborhoods to stay when visiting Tokyo are as follows:   Shinjuku   In terms of preference, I would say Shinjuku ranks the highest as a location because you will find great transport connections, delicious dining opportunities, and an amazing shopping experience. This place is known for the young crowd hence, the place also caters to them.   Starting from foodies to shopaholics, the place can satisfy starting from sudden cravings to planned dinner parties. The most important Yamanote Line is available here hence, it is perfect for you if you have plans to travel regularly. Also, the best bookshop in Tokyo, Kinokuniya is in Shinjuku.   Let's not forget that the place can be a little overwhelming with crowds, several bars, and restaurants. So, if you are traveling with kids, it can be a little too much for children, hence, please be a little aware of it.    Marunouchi Area/ Tokyo Station   Another perfect place to stay if you are not a homebody! The main transport hub of Tokyo is surrounded by great hotels, shops, department stores, and restaurants. If you are someone who loves parks, this is the place for you. There are several adjoining parks, plus you can visit the Imperial Palace.   The place can feel a little dead in the evening especially when people are inside restaurants or taking a stroll. However, the more you explore, you will see it is one of the coolest places to be if you are looking for exploration.   Roppongi   Another place to stay, if you are an explorer. Not just tourists, even the locals prefer Roppongi over other places to stay. The place is sexy with its come-hither feel, Roppongi is known for its glamorous nightlife and delicious dining experience.   Be it clubbers or fine diners, Roppongi is rated as one of the most attractive places to be. A cosmopolitan reflection of big money, be it foreign or Japanese, Roppongi shines bright. However, one of the negative points of this place is it is not on the Yamanote Loop line which can be difficult for an explorer.   You will have to travel long routes, and you will have to spend more money especially when you cannot access the loop line while staying in Roppongi.   Where to Eat!   If you are wondering what to eat when visiting Tokyo, let me share with you some of the iconic dishes. You will develop an immersive culinary experience when trying these dishes along with enjoying the beautiful places in Tokyo.  Just to be on the safe side, you must have the best travel credit card! It will help you if you are in any crisis.  Ramen – There are various ramen dishes, starting from spicy miso to rich tonkatsu. A combination of juicy meat, nori sheets, perfectly cooked egg, and bamboo shoots presents this feel-good hearty broth.   Yakitori – This is one of my favorites, the dish is skewered chicken which is of course savored grilled. Mostly, it is seasoned with salt or tare sauce.   Tempura – Deep-fried vegetables or seafood, you will fall in love with this crispy dish.   Sushi – It is one of the most popular cuisines of Japan, you will get a variety starting from creative rolls to classic nigiri.   Okonomiyaki – A specialty of Hiroshima, this dish is a savory pancake with various mix-ins such as cabbage, pork belly, and shallots! It is a combination of an omelet and a pancake.   Must See Tokyo in One Day!   Go to Asakusa first thing in the morning! You can visit Senso-ji temple which is located near Asakusa-jinja shrine.   Then you can take the Ginza subway line which will take you straight to Shibuya, across town from Asakusa. You will have to make the ride for about 30 minutes, so it is better if you grab a seat and relax with a book.   You can then take the Hachiko exit after you arrive in Shibuya and walk to the Shibuya crossing. It is one of the coolest shopping districts, now you know where I am taking you? There are a lot of huge department stores offering beautiful products.   You can eat something, a snack like Yakitori, Onigiri or Taiyaki the streets so that you are not hungry till afternoon! Most department stores have huge restaurant floors so you can easily have your lunch in Shibuya. It will be a bit rushed in the afternoon; peak time is 1:00 p.m. so try to avoid that time.   You can then visit the beautiful Meiji-jingu Shrine which is located west of Harajuku. You have to take the Yamanote line to get there. Furthermore, you can have your coffee at Omotesando to recharge for the rest of the day.    Let’s not forget the amazing views you will get from the observation deck of the Mori Tower. You must go to the 52nd floor of the tower to enjoy the beautiful Tokyo city view as the evening falls. There are many bars in the Roppongi district, where you can end your day with delicious meals and drinks.   Things to Do in Tokyo!   If you have more time, these are the following things that you must do if you are visiting Tokyo. The first thing that I will suggest to you is to visit a few spots popular for their cherry blossoms, mind-bogglingly beautiful.  The places are perfect for some alone time especially if you are avoiding the blossom season. Another thing that I feel that you should not miss is the Samurai Restaurant Time show. It shows the cultural side of Tokyo especially with the fun and glitz that the cabaret show brings with it.  You can get yourself tickets online from Samurai Restaurant Time to enjoy the extravagant show, memorable for a lifetime.   Mount Fuji is another wonder you must not miss if you visit Tokyo! If you are planning to visit Mount Fuji, try to do so in the daytime! There are several places from where you can enjoy the beautiful views of Mt. Fuji.  You can also add visiting Lake Kawaguchiko because the view you see of Mt. Fuji from here will not be available anywhere. You can go fishing, hiking or cycling or read a book sitting under one of the trees enjoying the view. There are also several museums around the lake, you can go check them out.   Tips to Make Your Trip Memorable   Buy a Universal adapter because the plug sockets in Japan are different. Bring Charger and Charger cables because you need to charge your cell phone regularly. The same applies to your laptop and Kindle.   Try to carry your phone Bank especially if you have plans to take pictures on your phone. With our social media platforms becoming the journal of your life, posting pictures, videos, and reels is a must. Get a data-only Japanese SIM card because it is better than having the roaming services on the existing SIM.   Carry your medicines when visiting Japan but be a little careful when carrying them. Japan has some strict regulations on common drugs, psychotropics, opioids, and others. Having a travel first aid kit is a must when traveling to Japan.   Carry basic medications such as flu, cold, diarrhea, rashes, painkillers, and others, sanitary pads, tampons, gel and Razors. How can you forget deodorant or perfume when traveling? It is one of the most important toiletries apart from your moisturizer, sunscreen, shampoo, shower gel, toothpaste, and others!   You also cannot forget sunglasses, a warm jacket, scarves, and a hat! Carry cotton and linen clothing, athleisure, and sportswear. Try to avoid denim because it holds onto moisture! Carry lightweight, comfortable walking shoes. Are you like me? Who loves the wilderness and the solitude. I am a solo traveler and I have visited a lot of national parks in the USA, the best of them according to me is Maine National Parks. If we share the same interest then Maine is the perfect getaway from everything.  The state is considered to be the place where the beautiful rocky coastline, pine forests, lighthouses, and the Appalachian Trail await you!.  When we talk about National Parks in Maine, there is only one National Park in Maine, but there are four sites that have been affiliated with the National Park services along with these there is also one National Trail that starts from Maine itself.  Acadia National Park is the main park in Maine. Maine National Parks that are affiliated are:  Maine Acadian Culture Centre. Katahdin Woods And Waters National Monument. Saint Croix Island International Historic Site.  Roosevelt Campobello International Park.  In this article, I will be giving you a complete guide on how to enjoy Maine National Parks. Stay tuned! Acadia National Park Acadia National park is where the mountains meet the ocean. This beautiful spot is located southwest of Bar Harbor, Maine. This park embraces 47,000 acres that include half of Mount Desert Island, known to be the section of the Schoodic Peninsula. There are several small islands in between as well.  Acadia is known to be one of the 10 top National Parks in America, which attracts a lot of tourists.  Things To Do In Acadia National Park  Hiking hiking is the most popular and fun activity in Acadia National Park. For hikers they have 158 miles that are marked as hiking trails and your pets can accompany you there too. It is a great place to take your family with you and while walking you will be watching the ocean, flora, and wildlife.  Wildlife For many species, Acadia National Park is their home. Look out for otters, eagles, seals, painted turtles, deer, peregrine falcons, moose, black bears, and porcupines. Other than this, in winter you can go ice fishing, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, snow bowling, and dog sledding.  How To Get To Acadia National Park? From Mount Desert Island or Schoodic Peninsula, by car, it is really easy to drive to Acadia. The Rv campers must know that the historic bridges have high restrictions on roads. The rest of the roads do allow buses and long vehicles.  There are RV campsites that have a convenient bus system to drive tourists around the park. Therefore to explore po[ular locations you don’t need to hire a vehicle for that. Maine National Parks As I mentioned in the beginning, there are four affiliated sites that can somehow be considered National Parks in Maine. Let's see what they have to offer. Maine Acadian Culture Centre Maine Acadian Culture Centre is located in the U.S side of Saint John Valley. It shows the depth of the history of the Acadian settlers.  There are places for tourists to explore the intriguing architecture of the early 1900’s church, which is now home to Musee Culturel du Mont-Carmel. You can also just wander around all your own among the seventeen buildings of the indigenous Acadian settlement.  For those who would rather just stay outdoors than indoors and build memories to carry back home, have the Allagash Wilderness Waterway where angling, hunting, and canoeing are available.  Katahdin Woods And Waters National Monument  Possessing over 87,000 acres of Maine wilderness, this spot offers opportunities for outdoor roamers. This place is considered to be the hub for bird-watching and hiking. Katahdin is nominated as the international dark sky sanctuary.  Among the Maine National Parks, Acadia National park has a pristine National Monument whose location is perfect for date gazers and campers. To those who look for adventure during the wintertime as well, snow bowling is allowed in many areas,  and there are well-maintained trails for cross-country skiing. Hunting and fishing are also allowed here.  Saint Croix Island International Historic Site This place attempted to have a French Colonization, which now reminds historical events dating back to 1604. The trail is fine for visitors to leisurely walk and enjoys guiding themselves while they pass the bronze statues set in homage to French settlers and admire them.  There is a huge bird population and birdwatchers can easily report if they come across a new species of bird. Informal birds taking shadows are held through the entire summer.  Roosevelt Campobello International Park  This international park is to show respect to Franklin D. Roosevelt and his family.  This 2,800-acre island is full of forests, bogs, and beaches that offer an idyllic area, slow walks, and get-togethers.  People come across many cottages in the park including Roosevelt Cottage. This cottage is open to all tourists and provides guides that know how to answer the guests with politeness and information.  Appalachian National Scenic Trail  This Trail contains 2200 miles of habitual foot track. 281 of them are located in the state of Maine. It has ecosystems in the mountains that are quite picturesque. The tallest mountain in Maine, Katahdin, blemishes the starting of the trail and is the difficult mile on the route which is Mahoosuc Notch.  As the spot has a unique climate, it is also a hub for scientific research and studies. Workshops are available to educate people who wish to join the journey. There are plenty of exploration options for all skill levels, from friendly treks to thru-hikers. No park in the Rockies in Canada is as beautiful as the Banff National Park. This park has a year-round allure. So, no wonder the park had 4.288 million visitors in the 2023-24 fiscal year.  However, Banff National Park is breathtaking in the winter. With an average annual snowfall of 181 inches, the park also offers thrilling winter activities.  Banff National Park Visitor HighlightsBanff National Park had 4.13 million visitors in the 2022-23 fiscal year. So, 2023-24 has seen a massive increase (31%) in the footfall.The traffic congestion in the area has increased with the most traffic in the Lake Louise area. In 2023, there were 2,547 reports of human-wildlife encounters in this national park. So, you must be respectful to the wildlife in the park.  Further, Banff National Park and its surrounding areas expect 10-15 cm of snow in October 2024. The higher terrains can even receive a snowfall of up to 25 cm. The three skiing resorts in Banff National Park are: Mt Norquay (10 Minutes Away from Town) Banff Sunshine (20 Minutes Away from Town) The Lake Louise Ski Resort  (40 Minutes Away from Town) You can try skiing at all the resorts or at least visit one during the cold season. You have to pay a nominal fee to ski at these resorts. However, if you need guidance or rentals, you must pay extra charges. Nevertheless, here is a snapshot of the admission fee to the park for your reference. Moreover, if you want to visit a particular ski resort, you can buy lift tickets. The Avalanche Season in the park continues from November to June.  You can even reach the Avalanche Terrain after a short walk. So, follow the Avalanche Danger Signs and Avalanche Symbol while trekking in the park in winter.  4. Dog Sledding Dog Sledding is a great way to explore the park in winter. The mighty and energetic huskies will make your day. While exploring the park, you will also learn about its history and why it is so crucial for the community and locality. In addition, your musher or guide will explain the dog sledding technique to you. Moreover, dog sledding is a popular activity in Banff National Park during the SnowDays  Event in January and February. It is a celebration of Everything Winter in Banff.  5. Relax In Upper Hot Springs Hours of Operation: 10 am to 10 pm (Last entry: 9:30 pm) It will be the most relaxing experience for you to soak in the warm water of the Upper Hot Springs on Sulphur Mountain in the chilling winter. You can kinda call it a Canadian tradition. So, no wonder that it has been one of the best things to do in Banff National Park in winter since 1886.  Banff Upper Hot Springs has 100% natural mineral water. Take a dip in the outdoor pool as you behold the Cascade and Rundle Mountain peaks.  Moreover, don’t forget to visit the Bath House, which is a federal heritage building that houses some interpretive exhibits. It is open daily from 10 am to 4 pm. Further snow tubing activities happen in two different time slots. The first slot is from 10 am to 12:30 pm, and the next slot is from 1:30 pm to 4 pm.  The snow tubing park in Mt. Norquay is the largest in Alberta. Moreover, the eight sliding lanes in the park let you enjoy the activity with your friends and family.  9. Northern Lights Viewing Late September to April is the best time for northern light viewing in Banff National Park. Longer nights and clear skies during these months are the best times for stargazing and northern light watching.  Vermillion Lakes in the national park is easily accessible by car and on foot.
