Not least of which is choosing how and where to go on vacation. A family vacation is a joyous thing but when you are the sole parent it comes with plenty of responsibility and needs careful thought.

Cruising is a brilliant way to take a lot of the stress out of a vacation as a single parent and can be a brilliant adventure to have with your kids. With its all-in-one entertainment and wide range of activities and amenities, as well as the chance to see a wide range of exciting destinations in just one trip, cruising can offer a great way to explore the world as a single-parent family.

So if you like the idea of a Western Caribbean cruise or a voyage up the Pacific Northwest, here are a few Cruising tips and tricks to help you enjoy a smooth and memorable experience.

Single Parent Cruising Tips and Tricks for a Memorable Adventure

Did you know that solo parenting is important while you are traveling with a child? Above all you can get multiple new challenges which are added on the top of the list. Below I am going to discuss single parent cruising tips and tricks for such a memorable adventure.

1) Choose the Right Cruise Line

Choose the Right Cruise Line

As with any family cruise, it is extremely important to pay careful attention to what the cruise line you choose offers. You will want to take into account things like the amenities your chosen ship offers, what children’s programs and clubs it has, and whether it has sufficient family-friendly activities to keep your little ones entertained. For single parents, this is even more important as you will need some time to yourself, so things like dedicated kids’ clubs and babysitting services are vital.

2) Book a Family-Friendly Cabin

Book a Family-Friendly Cabin

Your choice of cabin will also have a big impact on your cruise, so choose wisely. It is worth spending a little extra to get a cabin with enough space for your whole family to relax and unwind, and even thinking about one with a balcony or ocean view so you can enjoy some of the best bits of a sea voyage without having to leave your room.

3) Plan Ahead

It is incredibly important to plan your vacations carefully as a single parent, and this is even more relevant on a cruise. Doing your research in advance about ports, shore excursions, and activities means you can ensure that your kids are always entertained and that the trip includes a good mix of activities for you and them.

4) Pack Wisely

Pack Wisely

Packing for a family vacation is a skill and one that can make or break the trip, particularly as a single parent. If there’s just one of you, it is that much harder to head off to find things you’ve forgotten, so making sure that you’ve got everything you need is essential. That said, if there’s only one of you to carry the bags, you should also try to pack as light and efficiently as possible, to give your back a break!

5) Connect with Other Families

A family-friendly cruise can be an incredibly sociable affair so don’t be afraid to socialize and connect with other families on the ship. Not only is this a nice way for your little ones to make new friends, but it offers some adult company for you as well, and can help spread the childcare load a little!

6) Take Time for Yourself

Take Time for Yourself

While spending time with the kids is essential, you should carve out a few moments to relax and enjoy yourself on your own. Whether it’s an onboard spa, a few solo workouts, or just an evening with a good book and a glass of wine, pampering yourself with a bit of your time will give you energy. This means the energy you need to make the whole adventure unforgettable for your kids from start to finish!

7) Meals Can Be Tricky But Fun

Little kids often go on partial food strikes outside their comfort zone. This is all about refusing to eat your favorite foods at home. People usually claim that their children are mainly used to having cereal, dessert, pasta, milk, hot dogs, and so on, which was not cutting this.

Once you accept such things, you will have food at home again. This is, of course, fun watching their eyes lighten up.

8) The Kids Club is a Blessing

The Kids Club is a Blessing

Another single parenting cruise tip is to engage your child in a kids club. After all, if you enjoy such grown-up ship entertainment, this is quite similar to a massage or comedy show.

In this case, this was an excellent art activity, and these are also great cartoons. Even this would work like a water play table. Ensure you have explained exactly how long they will be going to stay and be able to discuss their activities. This would also keep you from wandering while your dad or mom is back.

9) Bathroom Breaks are Complicated Group Endeavor

Despite begging, bribing, or even threatening kids, they always refuse to use dinner while using the bathroom before dinner.

In this case, being a single parent, you always need to alert the waiter before they provide food for your child. Solo parents who can’t win this one will always try to use the bathroom in the cabin as much as possible.

10) The Ship Can Be Your Biggest Ally

If you are making a massive difference in achieving success on your single mother-daughter adventure, then the ship can be your biggest ally. The main pools here were crowded and deep; we would have had more fun with them.

11) Familiarize with and Use The WiFi App

Suppose you enjoy the Disney Cruise and would only have wifi if you could purchase this. On the other hand, they didn’t have any app where you could use the wifi for free. That is why several people found that the Disney app is handy to use.

This means we could easily track what events were happening on board, and you could even track what time you must go for dinner. Being with a five-year-old child is easy to manage once you can track such records.

12) Take Advantage of The Childcare

Take Advantage of the childcare

Did you know that childcare offered on any cruise tour is the biggest part of what has made this so relaxing for every single parent?

This is also fun. A 5-year-old child who is capable by herself can go to the Oceaneer’s Club. In this way, she can have lots of fun there with significant and stimulating activities and several other character visits.

13) Start or Join the Facebook Community for The Cruise That You Will be on

If it won’t be possible for you as a single parent to engage with the cruise tourists community by leaving your child alone, join the FB cruise community. With the help of the Facebook cruise group, you can interact with others on the same cruise as you would be there.

Being a single parent, Facebook cruse groups are also helpful, such as:

  • You could connect easily with other single parents.
  • Arrange some better things together with children of the same age as yours. This might be helpful in case your child is an only child.

In Conclusion

In this article, I have discussed single-parent cruising tips and tricks for a memorable adventure above. Before heading for any solo parenting, there are some tips and tricks that you have to know. This might happen if you are facing several new challenges at that time. Having these ideas would help manage. Also, solo parenting with your kids is always luscious if you know how to work properly.

Globetrotter’s Guide: The Ultimate International Travel Essentials Checklist

BY  Abdul Aziz Dec 30, 2023

When it comes to making travel plans and getting ready for a trip, we don't usually have many complaints. Yes, there are unpleasant, dull, and stressful portions. However, all of the drawbacks of travelling make way for some of the amazing and unforgettable experiences of life. Packing may be the least enjoyable part of getting ready for a trip, but with the appropriate attitude and plan, it can make the entire experience worthwhile. It's important to plan your international travel essentials carefully. Although it's possible to discover forgotten items in many places, having everything organized and safely packed in your suitcase will make your trip much easier. Nobody wants to drive for half a day looking for something they left behind. International Travel Essentials Whether it's your first time travelling abroad or you've done it before, this guide will help you make sure you've packed everything you could possibly need. Having these things ready, along with the right clothes and shoes for where you're going, will help ensure that your trip goes as smoothly as possible. Neck Pillow  Consider the Trtl Pillow as the traveller's neck pillow for those who detest neck pillow carrying. When not in use, the small neck support folds down to the size of a tablet, which you can discreetly and conveniently tuck away in your handbag or carry-on while you're on the go. The innovative design is light years ahead of the conventional neck pillow and resembles an infinite scarf. It offers sufficient support to allow you to rest your head fully on the side without having to worry about waking up with a kinked neck. It's much less embarrassing than falling asleep on your neighbour's shoulder, but it's essentially the inanimate equivalent. Tech Backup  We know! Although you're not going on an international trip to become engrossed in your technology. There are some necessities that can enhance a positive trip experience. Whether they support a schedule, guarantee your safety, or just keep you entertained while travelling. You can always rely on your smartphone in case of emergencies by bringing essentials like a portable power bank and a dependable Wi-fi hotspot. You can also use Google Maps to guide you through your self-guided walking tour without stopping at cafes every few blocks. Do you recall a time before Google Maps? It's difficult to envision a time when we would genuinely need to ask locals for directions or have faith that we are correctly interpreting a paper map. By guaranteeing you're always connected to a dependable Wi-Fi network, the Solis Lite 4G LTE WiFi Mobile Hotspot makes travelling in the modern world even easier. No matter where you go. It works flawlessly in more than 135 countries worldwide and doesn't require a SIM card or a contract. Additionally, it supports up to ten devices concurrently, so your travelling companions will be grateful as well. When choosing international travel essentials, your tech paraphernalia will take up a lot of space. Cincha Travel Belt  One of those travel essentials that, until you need it while on the go, you never really appreciate how much you need is the Cincha Travel Belt. The purpose of the travel belt is to secure your belongings, such as shopping bags, a handbag, or a coat, to the handle of your rolling luggage. Then you won't have to worry about them falling off or slipping around. When you don't want to worry about carrying several loose parts, this is a very convenient option to have on hand when switching terminals or taking trains to the city centre. Adapter  Bringing along a quality adapter when travelling overseas is a must. After a long day of travelling, the one item you'll want to have on hand—if at all possible—is an adapter that will efficiently and rapidly charge your phone so you can get out and explore as soon as possible. Seek an adapter similar to the Epicka Universal Travel Adapter. It has several outlets that can be used in over 150 countries, but if you're planning on travelling, say, between the United Kingdom and Europe, you won't have to worry about managing multiple attachments thanks to its handy sliding design. Additionally, it has four USB-A ports, which are the rectangular ones that many older devices use. Luggage  This is probably the most obvious one of the international travel essentials on our list. Be very careful when choosing the dimensions of your carry-on if you are travelling and do not want to take the chance of having to check a bag during your entire trip. Choose a suitcase that is no taller than 21.5 inches to be on the safe side. Not all items of luggage that are marked as "carry-on" will be allowed once you leave the country. Although the Samsonite Freeform Hardside Expandable with Spinner Wheels is only 21.25 inches tall, it satisfies international standards. However, the spinner has a strong, thin shell that gives you more interior space for clothes and accessories. EZ Packing  If you have a lot of airport security checks ahead of you, the EZ Packing ( 3-1-1) travel as well as toiletry bag is going to be your saving grace. It is clear and TSA approved. The see-through design of the TSA-approved bag allows airport security to clearly see through the luggage. You can easily show that you have already taken out the liquids, gels, and aerosols from your bag. And that you are prepared to pass through security like the seasoned traveller you are. The bag holds the exact amount of liquid you are allowed to bring on board (not exceeding 100 ml per bottle). Other International Travel Essentials Long flights or journeys are just one aspect of travelling abroad. You also have to wait in airports, train stations, and other locations before you reach your destination. Bring along some essential travel items to pass the time. Consider packing any or all of the following items for you and your family in your carry-on luggage: Headphones Earplugs Sweater or light jacket Warm socks Refillable water bottle Snacks Medications Sanitizing wipes Masks and hand sanitizer Books Magazines Wrapping Up  It can be very difficult to know what to pack for an international trip. A travel packing list template can make the process of getting ready for your trip less stressful. Whether you're going on an international family vacation or travelling for work. If you have thoughts to share or questions to ask about international travel essentials, please leave a comment below. We would love to hear from you! We try to have Ray as our server; he is great!” 4. Goodlinens Studio: The Goodlinens Studio is located in the oldest working seaport of the United States, at downtown Gloucester. Eddie Bauer Outlet: If you were planning to check out Wrentham mall and skip out on the famous outlets in Massachusetts, then you were on your way to making a big mistake. The Eddie Bauer outlet is one such place you must check out if you love shopping - plenty of options on clothes available at reasonable prices. And you might just get some crazy deals! Review By BandBCuties:“For any fans of Eddie Bauer clothing this place will be a great find for you. We have an outlet by us but have never find as many bargains as we did while shopping at this store. Make sure you ask about their sales tax policy because if you spend over so much (which we did) you get charged a different sales tax. Happy shopping.” 9. Osgood's: Did you know that Osgood’s happens to be 60+? We didn’t know that when we visited this famous outlet! If you google ‘outlets in Boston Massachusetts,’ you will find Osgood’s name on every list - so there was no reason we were going to leave it out from our ultimate list for shoppers visiting Massachusetts. Review By Adventure Diva:“This 60+ year old outlet does not disappoint. I've visited many times over the years and appreciate the fact you can purchase everything under one roof. Lots of unique options are here including a selection of cashmere, silks, vintage fabrics, blinds and accessories for home decor, ulphostery, clothing and crafting. Fashion designers, theater groups and individual customers come here to check out their wide assortment.” 10. Vortex/New England Stained Glass: Launched in 1975, the Vortex/New England Stained Glass is well known for its dedication and quality. The store is perfect for people seeking stained glass windows customized to their preference or anyone who is on the verge of restoring their windows. Review By Joseph Rapoza:“Very nice people the owner took the time to greet me and show me quite a few windows. They do wonderful work at work from what I can see they have a large selection of stained glass windows most of them are from churches. The prices seem reasonable for what he has unfortunately for me I did not purchase anything. Great people they took their time with me I thank you” 11. The Longmeadow Shops: One of our favorite outlets in Massachusetts, the Longmeadow Shops are located right at the center of the whole Longmeadow Community. This is one of those walking malls that offer a huge variety of local and national retail stores, accompanied by gift shops, eateries, and restaurants. If you google ‘outlets in ma,’ you will see how Longmeadow pops up everywhere! Review By E M:“Always love shopping at Longmeadow shops. It’s very clean and has a variety of shops I don’t see anywhere else in the area. If you're not in a rush, which you usually aren't, it's worthwhile to look through local classified ads on Craigslist or Kijiji. Another thought? Join a few local Freecycle groups and ask around to find out if anyone you know is parting with anything you'd like to give away. 2. Join a few local Freecycle groups and ask around to find out if anyone you know is parting with anything you'd like to give away. 3. See if you can borrow the newest best-selling book from your local library before dropping some cash on something you will probably read once. 4. Even in a retail establishment, there are many circumstances in which you can bargain, even though you probably won't be able to do so on many items. For instance, if an item has cosmetic flaws, a retailer might be willing to give it a slight discount because such items are typically harder to sell. 5. You may end up paying full price if you wait to buy something until you really need it, but you can save a lot of money by making some advance plans. Consider asking yourself the following queries. 6. You can save even more money if you combine coupons with sales. Coupons, like the ten buy one, get one free offer for your preferred deodorant, can be found on eBay. 7. Prior to making a purchase, while shopping, look for the store's name along with the "coupon code". In an effort to help customers save money, a lot of retailers will post coupon codes. 8. Generally speaking, it's not a good idea to purchase an item as soon as you see it because it's probably cheaper somewhere else. The savings you'll get make the extra time and effort worthwhile, especially for pricey purchases where you stand to gain a lot from comparing prices and for scenarios like online shopping where it's easy to do so.
