Gatlinburg has the potential to become a case study for capitalizing on its proximity to The Great Smoky Mountains National Park and beautiful landscape.

However, tourism development in Gatlinburg has been a continuous effort for 20 years. This consistent effort even showed in Forbes Magazine naming it one of the prettiest towns in America in 2012.

Under the leadership of Cindy Cameron Ogle, the City Manager, Gatlinburg has experienced this metamorphosis.

Further, the Airbnb Market Data for 2023 in Gatlinburg shows a huge demand for short-term and long-term accommodations (temporary) in this part of the world.

The vacation rental company had 1,797 active listings in Gatlinburg as of 12th September 2024. Further, in 2023, Airbnb enjoyed an average occupancy rate of 66%. Also, the median rate of daily occupancy was $235.

So, being a hotspot for Tennessee tourism, Gatlinburg has many excellent accommodation options. However, you need to consider the following factors to optimize your experience.

1- Be Clear About What You Want:

Whether planning a solo trip or visiting Gatlinburg with family, the first step is to decide what you are looking for from your accommodation.

Even though Gatlinburg is a small town, it offers a wide range of accommodation options, from luxurious hotels and cabins to camping underneath the clear night sky. Note down what you will need from your accommodation and research different options.

For example, a one-bedroom cabin is an ideal option if you are visiting Gatlinburg solo. On the other hand, if it is a family trip, consider booking a cabin with multiple bedrooms and basic amenities like a kitchen. It will come in handy, especially if you decide to stay on the outskirts.

Many cabins also come with additional perks, like an indoor pool. It is an excellent, fun activity if you have kids. They can enjoy the warm, crystal-clear water while you plan for the day. By choosing Gatlinburg cabins with an indoor pool, you can also swim whenever you want without worrying about privacy or sunburn.

2- Location Is The Key For Booking Lodgings On A Vacation In Gatlinburg:

Location is the deciding factor that can make or break your vacation experience. The primary purpose of the vacation is to unwind while exploring a new city and culture. You cannot do that if your location does not give you access to popular tourist spots. Choose a place that will put you in proximity to significant attraction spots and also allow you to enjoy the awe-inspiring scenery that Gatlinburg has to offer.

Similarly, if the purpose of your location is pure relaxation, staying at a place located in a crowded area will ruin the vacation for you. In that case, you need to book a place that gives you access to mountains or hiking trails. Gatlinburg offers numerous challenging hiking trails, thanks to The Great Smoky National Park.

If you are traveling by plane, you should also factor it in. Do not choose a place far from the airport or inconvenient to commute. Most cab services charge extra if your accommodation is located at a distance from the airport. You will also have to pay for public transport. You can avoid paying those additional chargers.

3- Research Different Options:

Once you have decided on the type and location of the accommodation, it’s time to go into research mode. Many credible websites, such as Airbnb and Booking, provide several options based on availability or your needs. Research the options by answering the following questions:

  1. How long are you going to stay?
  2. How many rooms will you require?
  3. Will you need cooking facilities?
  4. Do you have any special conditions?
  5. Do you need wifi, a pool, or any other additional perk?
  6. Can the place give access to public transport?

Researching beforehand can save you from many mistakes. It can also help you plan your budget accordingly. For instance, booking a three-bedroom condo is a waste of money if traveling solo. Similarly, a one-bedroom cabin may not be sufficient for a family of 4. Take into consideration every option and choose the one that suits your needs.

4- Reviews Can Be Helpful:

See what other people are saying about the place by reading online reviews. These reviews give insight into what other tourist experience about the accommodation. The reviews can be invaluable because they present the facts about the accommodation in question. When deciding between two or more accommodations, this information can be helpful because you can usually tell immediately how much the reviewer enjoyed the accommodations. You can also explore travel blogs for detailed reviews and ratings. The place with higher ratings usually indicates credibility.

5- Consider The Timing Of Your Visit:

Since Gatlinburg attracts millions of tourists, the timing of your visit can matter the most. Gatlinburg is nestled between the mountains, and its pleasant weather during summer attracts millions of visitors. Most lodges are fully booked during summer, making it difficult to book accommodation. Many people also experience long queues for a table at the restaurant. And in a jam-packed season, it can be difficult for families to enjoy outdoor activities or explore the city to a full extent.

6- Book Early:

If you do choose to visit Gatlinburg during summer, it is wise to book early. Imagine a family vacation is due, and you have taken some days off from work. Everything is in order except booking a place to stay. You go to the website only to realize that your ideal hotel or cabin is sold out for the days you want to visit.

Therefore, always book early. Do not wait till the last minute. Booking early gives you peace of mind that your ideal place is waiting for you, and you can also save money because the price usually goes up during the busy season.

8 Things You Need To Know About Using E-Bikes For Your Hunting Adventures

BY  Ankita Feb 12, 2024

E-bikes are changing the world of outdoor adventures, and hunting is no exception. These electric bikes are not just a fad; they're a revolution in how hunters approach their sport. Quiet, efficient, and eco-friendly, e-bikes offer a unique blend of technology and tradition. This article explores the essential things every hunter should know about using e-bikes, from the benefits they bring to the hunt to choosing the right model for your needs. Whether you're a seasoned hunter or new to the sport, understanding the role of e-bikes can transform your hunting experience. Advantages Of Using E-Bikes For Hunting E-bikes come with several advantages that make them a fantastic choice for hunting. Firstly, they are much quieter than traditional vehicles, which is crucial for hunting. The less noise you make, the less likely you are to startle your prey. This stealth aspect gives hunters a significant advantage in the field. Another benefit is their environmental friendliness. E-bikes don't emit fumes like gas-powered vehicles, making them a more sustainable option for the environmentally conscious hunter. Additionally, they can handle various terrains, from muddy paths to rocky trails, which is often required in the wilderness. Choosing The Right E-Bike For Hunting Selecting the right e-bike for hunting requires a lot of considerations. The e-bike should have a robust load capacity to carry not just the hunter but also their gear and potentially their game. Durability is another key factor. Hunting terrains can be challenging, and your e-bike needs to withstand rough conditions. Look for models specifically designed for off-road use, with sturdy frames and reliable components. When it comes to the specifics, understanding the types of electric bike suspensions is crucial. Suspension systems play a vital role in ride comfort and control, especially on uneven terrains typical in hunting areas. A good suspension system will absorb shocks and provide a smoother ride, which is essential when traversing through the woods or even mountains. Various models are available in the market, each with different features suited for hunting. Some have camouflage designs to blend in with the environment, while others focus on enhanced battery life and load capacity. Researching and comparing different models is key to finding the e-bike that meets your hunting needs. Legal Considerations And Regulations Before you head out on your e-bike hunting adventure, it's important to be aware of the legal aspects. Laws and regulations regarding e-bike use can vary significantly from one region to another. Some areas may have specific rules about where and how you can use e-bikes, especially on public lands or in wildlife reserves. In some places, you might need a license or registration to use an e-bike, just like any other vehicle. It's essential to check the local regulations before planning your hunting trip. Moreover, riders and hunters must respect wildlife and environmental laws. These rules are in place to protect the natural habitat and ensure that hunting remains a sustainable activity for future generations. Safety Tips While Using E-Bikes For Hunting Safety should always be a top priority when using e-bikes, especially in hunting scenarios. First and foremost, wearing a helmet is necessary to protect you in the event of a fall or crash. Also, consider wearing visibility vests, particularly if you're hunting in areas shared with other outdoor enthusiasts. This helps ensure you're visible to others, reducing the risk of accidents. When riding through rough terrains, keep your speed at a manageable level. It's easy to get carried away with the power of an e-bike, but safety comes first. Be particularly cautious on wet or uneven trails to avoid slips and falls. Similarly, stay aware of your surroundings and be prepared for unexpected wildlife encounters. Animals can be unpredictable, so knowing how to react is essential for your safety. Maximizing Battery Life And Efficiency To get the most out of your e-bike's battery life, start with a full charge before heading out. If possible, carry a spare battery or a portable charger for longer trips. You can also conserve battery life by using the pedal-assist feature. Pedal more in easier terrains and save the battery for challenging parts of your journey. Maintaining your e-bike is key to ensuring it runs efficiently. Regular maintenance can prevent small issues from becoming big problems. Keep an eye on tire pressure, brake pads, and the chain. Proper upkeep not only extends the life of your e-bike but also ensures it performs at its best when you need it. Charging your e-bike during a long hunting trip can be challenging. If you're camping, consider solar chargers as an eco-friendly option. Planning your route with charging points in mind is another strategy to ensure your e-bike is always ready to go. Packing And Transportation Considerations Transporting your e-bike to your hunting location requires some planning. If you're driving, you might need a bike rack. Make sure the rack is sturdy enough to handle the weight of an e-bike, which is typically heavier than a regular bike. When packing your e-bike, remove any detachable parts like batteries or LCDs to prevent damage during transit. Balancing your load is key when using an e-bike for hunting. You'll likely be carrying additional gear like weapons, ammunition, and possibly camping equipment. Ensure your e-bike has the necessary carrying capacity, and use saddlebags or panniers to distribute the weight evenly. This not only makes your ride more stable but also prevents strain on the bike. Efficient packing is all about what you bring on your hunting trip. Pack only the essentials to avoid unnecessary weight. Tools for minor repairs, a first-aid kit, and enough water and food are must-haves. Remember, the more efficiently you pack, the more enjoyable your ride and hunting experience will be. E-Bike Maintenance After each trip, clean your e-bike to remove any dirt or debris. Pay special attention to the chain, gears, and brakes. These components can suffer the most from rough terrain and require regular checks and lubrication. Store your e-bike in a dry, cool place to protect it from the elements. If you're not going to use it for a while, make sure the battery is charged to about 50% to maintain its health. Periodic service from a professional can also go a long way in extending the life of your e-bike. Wrapping Up E-bikes are a fantastic tool for modern hunters. They offer a quiet, efficient, and eco-friendly way to navigate hunting terrains. Choosing the right e-bike involves considering factors like battery life, load capacity, and durability. Remember to always prioritize safety and abide by local laws and regulations. Lastly, maximizing battery life, packing efficiently, and maintaining your e-bike will also enhance your hunting experience. Read Also : Planning A Trip to Las Vegas, USA? Ski Resorts of Idaho

BY  Abdul Aziz Oct 27, 2021

A trip to an Idaho Ski Resort is always a fun, luxurious, and unforgettable experience. Some people like camping, some people enjoy relaxing on the beach, but there are others that just can’t get enough of the frigid winter chill and love hitting the slopes. When people think of Ski Resorts, their minds typically wander to states such as Colorado, California, or Utah, but there is another state that deserves to be on that short-list: Idaho. Idaho and its ski-resorts have much more to offer than you might think. Idaho shares a border with Canada and stretches all the way south past Washington and Oregon. This leaves Idaho with a large variety of terrain, mountains, and landscapes. There are tens of thousands of acres of forest with a massive amount of national forest. Idaho is actually in the top 3 in the country for acres of national forest. If you couple these forests with the mountain ranges that span nearly the entire state, Idaho really seems like an ideal place to be. When it comes to snowfall, you won’t be disappointed there. You can expect several hundred inches of snowfall in the upper mountains. Perfect if you enjoy dropping into puffy piles or carving through the snowy powder with skis. Mountains with large drops? Done. Windy trails for skiing? Has it. What more could you ask? So, Idaho has plenty of territories fit for skiing, snowboarding, and other wintery activities, but what about the Ski Resorts? From North to South, Idaho has ski resorts in nearly every major area. There are around 16 Ski Resorts located in Idaho, 4 of which are especially notable. Tamarack: Tamarack is Idaho’s top Ski Resort and it is also the closest one to Boise. It offers affordable lift rides, a variety of dining options, and places to stay for nearly any budget. When it comes to the mountain, Tamarack doesn’t disappoint. The mountain sports a near 2800’ vertical drop, nearly 300 inches of annual snowfall, and 50 named runs with decent lift access. Silver Mountain: Located all the way up in Kellogg, Silver Mountain is a great option if you want more than the typical winter experience. While not as accessible as the others, it is still not a resort to skip out on. Silver Mountain has plenty of runs (73 to be exact), great lift access, 1600 acres of skiable land, and, surprisingly, an indoor water park. When it comes to vertical drops and snowfall, you can still be satisfied here. Silver Mountain boasts a near 2200’ drop and around 300 inches of snowfall. It’s not as high as the others, but don’t let that stop you from enjoying what it has to offer. One additional detail to keep in mind: Silver Mountain is relatively close to Spokane, Washington. This makes the Spokane International Airport an option for landing. Schweitzer: Located in Northern Idaho, even further than Kellogg, Schweitzer mountain resort offers a 2400’ vertical drop with 300 inches of snowfall. It sports a massive 92 named runs with 10 separate lifts to ensure you can get around the mountain. Prices are affordable and there are many lodging options. There are wide-open slopes and trails through the trees. Schweitzer has something for everyone. Sun Valley: Sun Valley is the largest and most popular Ski Resort Idaho has to offer. Its location is more centralized in the state and it has a variety of activities available. Its location is close enough to the Friedman Memorial Airport to make the drive to the actual resort less than 30 minutes. This makes it one of the easiest resorts to access. In addition to that, it also has the largest variety of activities. More than skiing and snowboarding, it has shopping, dining, and even golfing to offer. The mountain is also very impressive. It has the largest vertical drop at a staggering 3400’. This is the only resort with a drop over 3000’ (Tamarack at 2800’ is the closest match) and 220 inches of average snowfall. It also has the largest number of named runs and the largest number of lifts. There are 121 runs with 18 lifts to accompany them. If you’re looking for the best all-around experience, this is absolutely one to consider. How do I choose which Ski Resort to go to? There is a large amount of information in regards to the different ski resorts. If it’s your first time, a lot of it may not make a lot of sense. To help understand, there are only a few factors that really matter. Ignoring the total cost of the trip, you should look at the vertical drop with snowfall, the number of named runs and lifts, and also its location relative to airports/major towns. Using these metrics, you can narrow down which Ski Resort would be best for you. If you look at the numbers, you can generally assume bigger is better. More named runs and lifts usually mean the resort is more developed and easier to traverse. Looking at the vertical drop can be a decent way to gauge the difficulty range. And, of course, the time it takes to travel to the resort itself is important as you’ll need to plan travel accordingly. It’s unfortunate that Idaho isn’t higher on people’s lists of Ski Resort states. From relaxed rides to big vertical drops, Idaho has everything you could want. Deep powder, amazing views, and a growing number of resorts are just a few of the many reasons Idaho is gaining popularity in the snow sports community. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) How many ski resorts are there in Idaho? Idaho has 18 ski resorts with their own personality and unique ways. You will experience different things in each of them. They are very creative while having their plans made.  what is the largest ski resort in Idaho? Schweitzer Mountain resort. There are over 2,900 skiable acres. You don’t have to share your space with other skiers. Is snowboarding allowed in Sun valley? Yes, you can, with all ability levels.
