I was standing in my living room and almost tripped over Lego blocks. I have been doing this all day long, and I need my days by the beach back. This was my story a few years back, and I was wondering if I would see a white sand beach ever again. Then, Boracay happened to me. Initially, my friends were like, “There are fire dancers everywhere, and the nightlife is lit. What are you going to do with these guys?” My daughter was 5 then, and my sonwas all of 2 years. I was more worried about toilets, cleaning stations, and a clean place for meals.  Boracay impressed me. It is a fusion of high-energy vacation and a laid-back vibe. Yes, it was a bit expensive by the standards of the Philippines, which is one of the cheapest places to travel in the world.  However, it was okay considering the ease I enjoyed while traveling with two kids.  Hi, in today’s blog, I will talk about the unique things to do in Boracay with kids. If you want to explore more of the Philippines, you can check out my guide on things to do in Siquijor.  How To Reach Boracay? Yes, this part was a little tricky for me. The travel involved flights, boats, and buses. It was nothing short of a military operation.  However, all the fatigue goes away when the boat hits the jetty, and the turquoise water appears before the eyes.  Also, Boracay is a good mix of modern structures and traditional island life. You will find air-conditioned malls and fancy malls along with the quintessence of the tropics.  What Are The Best Things To Do In Boracay With Kids?  The calm and shallow waters and car-free zones make Boracay a stress-free destination for parents like me.  Also, the Giant Sand Box or the White Beach offers a natural playground for kids. Here is more about the unique things to do in Boracay with kids. 1. The Ultimate Sand Experience At White Beach  The most beautiful beach in Boracay, White Beach, is enchanting, and where we dedicated most of our time. White beach stretches for 4 kilometers, featuring stunning white sand, and is the island's most bustling area. It has three stations (creatively named Station 1, 2, and 3).  The second location is the primary one where we stayed and relaxed.  I anticipated it would be overcrowded, excessively noisy, and not particularly suitable for families. However, that wasn’t true at all.  It was hectic, but not excessively so, and never noisy in my experience. Our children enjoyed it. If you're searching for activities in Boracay Station 2, you won't need to search for too long. Shops, bars, restaurants, tour desks, and massage parlours are found everywhere. My favorite section was the “beach path,” a wide, sandy walkway that follows the beach and is filled with all the essentials you desire.  I haven't encountered anything similar anywhere else. It was pleasant to enjoy the main strip free of cars and directly on the beach, instead of having the beach obstructed by hotels or filled with vehicle fumes as seen on numerous other popular beaches.  One of my favorite activities on Boracay Island was simply strolling along this pathway. There wasn't a lot of trouble either. While strolling slowly with the kids, we frequently received inquiries about boat tours and purchasing hats, but when I was out alone, very few questions were directed at me, and it was not significant.  Unlike some of the major beach destinations in Asia, such as Bali. Boracay maintains a laid-back island atmosphere, yet offers plenty of activities to partake in. 2. Enjoying The Relaxed Vibe At Bulabog Beach This beach is just a kilometre away from White Beach on the island, yet it seems totally different! Once I departed from the main road, all was still except for the crowing of roosters and the laughter of children.  Rather than resorts and buildings, I observed homes constructed from whatever materials were at hand and meandering paths. It is said to be the least appealing beach to stay at in Boracay (unless you are a kite boarder), and I was amazed to discover how incredibly fantastic I thought it was.  It is stunning, and in any other place, it would be greatly appreciated. Moreover, it was slightly breezy, yet extremely calm, with almost no one present and no traffic sounds.  I was infatuated! Had it not been too late to cancel our lodging at the next place, I would have stayed here for two nights instead. White Beach is more beautiful and may have been better for us, as its central location to everything is crucial with young children.  If I returned, I would remain here. I’d simply ensure I was at the end of the beach facing D’Mall, where there are several restaurants, making it easier to stroll the 500m to D’Mall and return to the main area for activities to enjoy in Boracay with family. 3. Water Activities In Boracay Of course, the primary draws in Boracay relate to the beach and the ocean.  Numerous water activities exist.  The primary activities appear to include island hopping excursions, sunset boat trips, glass-bottomed boat experiences, snorkeling, diving, windsurfing, and kiteboarding, essentially anything related to water! Naturally, there is spending time at the beach. You can rent a boat for a very low price. We completed this task in one day for 1000 pesos in an hour.  It was just a bit more than purchasing a tour and allowed us to choose the timing. S didn’t find this very impressive, likely because she had to sit on netting that was somewhat rough.  They also don’t approach the shore directly, so you have to wade into the water. You can clearly employ them to transport you to any place you prefer. Anyone want a private beach? Here, you can reserve numerous activities in Boracay in advance. 4. Shopping At D’Mall D'Mall is the main shopping district of the island and is truly impressive.  When I learned about it, I pictured many small market stall-like spots, but it's more similar to a large outdoor shopping center featuring small boutiques, trendy eateries, and bars.  In the center, there is a small ferris wheel that is an ideal activity for kids in Boracay.  Numerous massage establishments exist (typically 350 pesos for an hour, comparable prices for manicures and pedicures), excellent restaurants offering various cuisines, trendy bars, and everything required for a pleasant and relaxing experience. We dedicated the majority of our time to eating, swimming in the pool, or playing on the beach. Our primary aim was to unwind and commemorate a significant milestone. Get Your Nails Done Or Have A Massage Doing the nails might not be the initial idea that comes to mind when considering the activities in Boracay, but it certainly was a success for us!  My daughter and I were very pleased to have her nails done. This is another affordable activity in Boracay – it’s a fantastic deal. Best Family Resort In Boracay We suggest utilizing HotelsCombined to discover the top lodging options in Boracay. The disadvantage was that this hotel is on the main road, a block away from the beach at Station.  It only took a few minutes to reach the beach (Boracay is small). So, we are close to amenities like the supermarket. 2. Click here to see the latest prices.  Food In Boracay Eating was one of my favorite activities in Boracay! There are countless excellent food options – you won't struggle to find something you enjoy.  A variety of distinct cuisines exists. Buffets are great during the evening, and the coastline offers a lot of options.  This was excellent for us since it wasn’t significantly pricier than ordering à la carte, as the kids ate free with the buffets. Interestingly, we both enjoyed our greatest steak ever at what appears to be the finest buffet in Boracay.  It was definitely the most expensive one we encountered, but at under $20 and with free admission for our kids, it was absolutely worth it, and we returned again. We ordered room service and had a picnic by the beach. Everyone was pleased with the meal. Getting Around In Boracay We seldom did anything apart from walking. All we might require is nearby, as we are at Station 2. You can flag down tricycles on the main road for 10 pesos, which we did from time to time. Our stroller was not an issue. Keep These Things In Mind Before Your Visit  Everything appears quite inexpensive to us, but we haven't spent a lot of time in other parts of the Philippines so far.  I believe this is likely the best approach, as we might now discover much cheaper options elsewhere, rather than arriving here last and encountering very high prices.  I am aware that we purchased beverages and snacks at the airport for less than at the grocery store here. 1. Accommodation Is Expensive In Boracay  Accommodation is undoubtedly costly.  I searched for the ideal accommodation in Boracay for us. I even cancelled two locations before finally securing the place we chose.  We are investing more in lodging in Boracay than anywhere else, and it is far from being our top hotel. There are definitely less expensive options, but with our children so young, we are quite particular.  Anticipate higher costs here compared to other locations (even though we are currently in peak season, which lasts more than half the year, and the off-season is not ideal for weather). 2. The Supermarkets Have Everything The supermarkets appear to carry nearly everything, including some global items like Weetbix. Regrettably, they lack soy milk.  My son cannot handle dairy, so it’s fortunate that we packed plenty of formula for this exact scenario. Thankfully, there is significantly more formula present here than in Thailand. The laundry was inexpensive and easy to locate. Our nearest one cleans, dries, and folds for under a dollar per kilo. 3. ATMs Can Be A Problem  My main complaint would be the ATMs. As we discovered at the airport, they don’t always function properly.  Following online research, it's common that the maximum withdrawal is 10,000 pesos (almost $250), and standard fees are 200 pesos (around $5). This is lame! Thus, we are utilizing our credit card whenever feasible. All in all, Boracay is amazing!! And receives our collective approval. We feel unhappy about departing. Some trails in the park will take you to beautiful waterfalls, and some will end at breathtaking summits and immersive lakes. Do you also want to hike and experience the park at its best? Here is a brief overview.  Hiking Through The Rocky Mountain National Park Trails: A Rocky Mountain National Park Guide  Rocky Mountain National Park has over 350 miles of hiking trails. With an elevation of just 640 feet, this trail is moderate to hike. Further, if the hiking trail from Old Fall River Road is closed, you can take the trail from Winter Closure Gate. Then, you will have to walk or bike for 2.2 Miles.  3. Adam Falls Trail  Trail Head: East Inlet Trail Distance: 0.6 Miles round trip Difficulty Level: Easy With an elevation of just 79 feet, the Adam Falls Trail is one of the easiest ones in the park. Adam Falls is small but excels in its quaint beauty.  If you want to be more adventurous, you can walk past the waterfall. A beautiful glacier valley will emerge before your eyes, and you will love the exuberance of wildflowers.  4. Cascade Falls Trail Trail Head: North Inlet Trail Distance: 3.4 Miles one-way Difficulty Level: Moderate to Strenuous (Expect changes in the difficulty level throughout the route) You will love the gurgling sound of the North Inlet stream water, and as it thrashes the pure granite stone, it’s a beauty to behold. This waterfall is 100 feet tall and forms a cascade, as the name rightly suggests.  You will meet the most adorable marmots As you continue your hike and pass through the open meadow. They are frequent to the winding river through the lodgepole pine forest. Further, you can stop here to fish river trout and brown trout.  Best Rocky Mountain National Park Trails To Lakes Great National Park has 156 lakes. Some of these lakes have dense trout populations. Further, areas near these lakes are great for spotting wildlife. So, let’s know about the lake hiking trails that lead us to these beautiful lakes.  1. Bear Lake Trail Trail Head: Bear Lake Trail Distance: 0.7 Mile Difficulty Level: Easy With mountains of the Continental Divide in the backdrop, Bear Lake Trail is one of the best locations in the park for watching the sunset. You will love the beauty of Hallett Peak, Continental Divide, and an Alpine lake here. Bear Lake is the epicenter of many hiking trails. You can start your hike to Alberta Falls, Flattop Mountain, Emerald Lake, and more from here.  2. Sprague Lake Loop Trail Trail Head:  Estes Park Trail Distance: 0.7 Miles round trip Difficulty Level: Easy Sprague Lake Loop Trail is the most accessible trail in the park. Wheelchairs are allowed here. So, patients with disabilities can also explore this trail.  You can stop at the benches and many lookouts throughout the trail to reflect on the beauty of nature. Further, you can see the mountain peaks along the Continental Divide.  Moreover, Sprague Lake is an amazing destination for spotting wildlife.  3. Mills Lake Trail Trail Head: Glacier Gorge Trail Distance - 5 Miles round trip Difficulty Level: Moderate to Strenuous  With a 700-foot elevation, the Mills Lake trail will take you through a gorge carved by glaciers, streambeds, and waterfalls.  The beautiful Mills Lake gets its name from Enos Mills, the founder of the Rocky Mountain National Park. Further, if you want to continue your hiking pursuit, you can walk to Black Lake, and that will be an additional 1.7-mile hike.  4. Gem Lake Trail Trail Head: Lumpy Ridge Trailhead Trail Distance: 3.4 Miles round trip Difficulty Level: Moderate to Strenuous  The expansive field of granite domes houses the Gem Lake. It is indeed a hidden gem and one of the biggest attractions in the area, along with Lumpy Ridge.  Gem Lake is shallow, and it has water of melted snow and rainfall.  5. Dream Lake Trail Trail Head: Bear Lake Trail Distance: 2.2 miles round trip Difficulty Level: Moderate to Strenuous  You must go for a steady ascent from Bear Lake to reach Dream Lake. The trail comes with an elevation change of 830 feet. Don’t miss the following highlights of this hiking route.  Nymph Lake Aspen Groves Ponderosa Pine The Nymph Lake looks most beautiful in summer, with pond lilies in full bloom. Further, you can use Dream Lake as the base and trek to the amazing Emerald Lake or Lake Haiyaha.  Best Rocky Mountain National Park Trails To Summits Despite the elevation gain of around 1000-3000 feet, the hiking trails to summits are very popular among visitors. The wonderful vistas from the mountain tops make the effort worth it.  1. Deer Mountain Trail Trail Head: Deer Ridge Jct Trail Distance: 3.1 miles one-way Difficulty Level: Moderate to Strenuous  The Deer Mountain comes with an elevation of 10,006 feet. Further, as you hike and reach the summit, you will enjoy the most beautiful view of Upper Beaver Meadows, Longs Peak, Estes Park, and Moraine Park. Be careful about the weather forecast before you start your journey on the trail.  2. Flattop Mountain Trail Trail Head: Bear Lake Trailhead Trail Distance: 8.8 miles round trip  Difficulty Level: Moderate to Strenuous  The trail from Bear Lake is the best way to reach Flattop Mountain, and this route is one of the trickiest ones in the park. However, if you cannot access the trail from Bear Lake, you can try the route to Flattop via Tonahutu Trail. Further, as you reach the Flattop Mountain summit, you will enjoy the beauty of Hallet Peak, Dream Lake, and Tyndall Glacier.  3. Chasm Lake And Longs Peak Trail Trail Head: Old Fall River Road or Winter Closure Gate Trail Distance: 4.2 miles one-way Difficulty Level: Strenuous  Chasm Lake, just beneath the Longs Peak, offers a spectacular view. You will come across Tundra meadows and Alpine tundra through the trail. Further, animals like pikas and marmots are common here.  As you reach the Chasm Junction and find an outhouse, you can hike along a wall to see Columbine Falls and Peacock Pool Gorge. After this point, the terrain becomes rocky, and you will need cairns to reach Cirque, the lake's location.  Mistakes You Must Avoid When Hiking Through Trails Of Rocky Mountain National Park Making a rushed trip to the Rocky Mountain National Park is the biggest mistake you can make. You can face severe issues like dehydration and acute mountain sickness here if you don’t allow your body to acclimatize or work on your physical and mental endurance. So, carry enough water or hydrating solutions and start your training under proper guidance at least one month before your Rocky Mountain hike.  Further, don’t think that you will always make it to the trails in your usual track pants or leggings. On 15th August, 2025, Bounleua Sinxayvoravong, the Deputy Governor of Luang Prabang, announced that Luang Prabang had around 2.15 million visitors in the first seven months of the year.  So, the number of visitors increased to 983,483 or around 83.8 percent YoY. Thus, the city has already earned a revenue of LAK 1,108 billion or USD 52.76 million, which is 92.2 percent of the set target for the year.  Along with the temples and waterfalls of Luang Prabang, the Luang Prabang Night Market is one of the main attractions prompting this tourism boom.  As I was reading the news on the Laotian Times, published in August, I was quickly transported to my time in Luang Prabang in 2022. I vividly remembered what Mai, a Hmong Textile Weaver, told me.  She said, “I learned to weave when I was 12 from my mother. Each scarf tells a story of our village and ancestors. Tourists who ask about the patterns make me happy—they care about our culture.” She also added that her expertise was in hand-dyed indigo fabrics and detailed embroidery. Also, often she worked for long hours at the stall weaved on-site to show visitors the craft in action. She even mentioned that she did not mind working hard to support the education of her daughter.  However, Mai is alone. Beaming with more than 250 vendors, most of whom are women, the Night Market of Luang Prabang has such heartwarming stories scattered everywhere.  In this Tour and Travel Blog, I will share the stories of Mai, Chansy, Khamla, and Nou, the vendors I talked to at the Luang Prabang Night Market. I will also discuss the Luang Prabang Night Market tips about what to buy, what to eat, and more.  What Makes Luang Prabang Market Special?  The Night Market at Sisavangvong Road welcomed me with the scent of grilled meats and the hum of bargaining. Also, the market was decked out with colorful lanterns.  Furthermore, the area was bustling with more than 250 stalls set up side by side. However, despite the presence of so many vendors and buyers, the Night Market was peaceful and respectful. I was amazed to see how they did it!  Another thing that struck me was that most of the stalls sold local, handmade items. I found the vendors very passionate about preserving their traditions and building their livelihood based on them.  I also learned that many vendors here are from the Hmong group.  History Of the Night Market: From Candlelight To Culture Usually, the origin of the Luang Prabang Night Market is said to be in the 1990s. However, it has a strong connection with the Vietnam War.  After the Vietnam War, the displaced Hmong community started making and selling handicrafts for a livelihood. Over time, it evolved into a nightly cultural showcase, attracting travelers from around the world. Finally, in the 1990s, a modest “Candle Market” was set up, and local artisans mostly sold textiles and candles here.  Today, the Night Market is much beyond a commercial hub filled with vendors and buyers. It is a place of economic empowerment, especially for women. Moreover, it is an important element in the recognition of Luang Prabang as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  Luang Prabang Night Market Tips: What To Buy?  Deciding what to buy is the biggest challenge at the Luang Prabang Night Market. Here is a curated list of items that are the main attractions in the market. The main Night Market, stretching from the Tourism Office to the Royal Palace Museum, is the epicenter of the shopping experience. The main market stretch on the Sisavangvong Road has many stalls where artisans actively weave and carve.  1. Silver Jewelry Shop At Night Market  Don’t miss these stalls, and here the products sold are the most authentic. At one such stall, I met Chansy, a Lao Silver Jewelry Artisan, who was engrossed in making bracelets.  I liked something at her stall and I asked her if she uses a machine or not! She said,  “Silver work is delicate, but it connects me to my grandmother. Every bracelet is handmade. No machines. Sometimes visitors don’t realize the hours of work behind it.”  Chansy also had earrings and rings in her stall, and she added that coping with the demands of customers who do not want to wait and pay the right money was a challenge for her.  2. Eco-Friendly Bamboo & Recycled Crafts "I use bamboo and recycled materials because I want our children to have a clean future. It’s hard work, but I feel proud when someone buys my bags or straws knowing they are helping the environment." - Khamla, A Local Artisan and Vendor at the Luang Prabang Night Market.  Today, when Luang Prabang wins so many accolades in sustainable tourism, including the “Green Destinations Silver Certification,” it is these craftsmen and people of Luang Prabang who play a vital role.  I spent the most time at Khamla’s stall. Customers were standing in a queue in front of her shop to buy handmade soaps, eco-bags, and bamboo straws.  She was exchanging pleasantries with everyone, and she was sharing tips about using sustainable items, turning each sale into a small lesson in environmental care.  3. Paintings And Bookmarks I met another amazing woman vendor at a painting store at the Luang Prabang Night Market. Her name was Nou, and indeed, a great storyteller she was.  Nou focuses on storytelling through art. She said, “I started painting to earn extra money, but I fell in love with it. Each mask reflects a spirit or animal from our stories. Sometimes tourists just take photos without asking—it feels like sharing our culture.” When I visited her stall, she was working on a hand-painted bookmark inspired by Lao folklore. She said the only challenge she found was conveying the folk stories and their cultural significance to the younger generation and foreign visitors.  4. Recycled Bomb Metal Cutlery And Ornaments I visited the store selling cutlery and ornaments made of bomb metal. It is a reminder that Laos is the most heavily bombed country in the world in terms of per capita assessment. Furthermore, it has experienced major crises, including the Vietnam War and colonization.  If you loved visiting the UXO Luang Prabang Center, you must also explore a stall selling recycled bomb metal cutlery and ornaments for a full-circle experience.  5. Indigo-Dyed Fabric I have mostly seen women vendors at the stalls of indigo-dyed fabric in the Luang Prabang Night Market. Also, these women are from hill tribes, and they are really passionate about preserving their heritage.  You will get beautiful and sustainable cotton scarves at these stalls, and the tribal-style wraps and bags are quite stylish.  6. Artisan Alley Beside Indigo Café This lane is quieter, and some of the items here are cheaper than the stalls at the main stretch of the Night Market. It may be so as fewer tourists visit here.  I collected some miniature masks and wood-carved souvenirs from here.  7. Specialty Artisan Shops Nearby You will find some especially artisan and boutique shops near the Night Market.
