Bora Bora Is Shifting Its Tourism Policy, Aims To Double Tourists By 2033

Tourism Minister Tetsuo Saito and U.S. Ambassador to Japan Rahm Emanuel signed a memorandum on Wednesday designating 2024 as a year to promoting tourism between the two countries. During this year the two parties will work together to boost tourism exchange using joint efforts from the public and private sectors in a bid to heighten the recovery of the demand for travel since the COVID-19 pandemic. Citing that 464 cities share sister relationships between the two countries, Saito called for taking advantage of the tourism year to resume and boost the exchanges at the local levels. After the two countries agreed to the plan to apply on Japanese tourists, which will help expedite immigration procedures in the U.S. held at the residence in Tokyo of the ambassador, it was also attended by Japanese Digital Transformation Minister Taro Kono and Justice Minister Ryuji Koizumi. Under the supervision of the Tourism Year initiative, both the countries will hold travel campaigns for the general public and it will host events for travel agencies from the two countries. The number of visitors from the U.S. to Japan has been steadily going up with the help of the fall of the value of the yen against the dollar. The monthly number amounted to some 210,000 in October, with an increase of 40% from the same month in 2019, prior to the pandemic. Meanwhile, the number of Japanese visitors to the United States in October came up at about 140,000, less than half of the pre-pandemic numbers. The CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Akwesi Agyemang said that measures are being put in place in order to ensure that musical concerts and events that will be held during the festive season happen under peaceful circumstances. He has revealed that his management outfit is collaborating with event organizers- the Ghana Police Service and other relevant stakeholders to chalk out the upcoming Christmas events in a mannerly structure. Speaking to TV3 and GhanWeb, Akwesi Agyemang emphasized that Ghana is ready to host the rest of the world for this festive season. He went ahead detailing what plans they have for Christmas joining hands with the Ghana Police Service to make provision for tighter security. He said in his statement, "I mean we've done this for five years so when it comes Ghana we have a track record of that. We are working with the event organizers, and we've met with the IGP (George Akuffo Dampare), he asked that everybody present their security plan that will be tied to what the police will do. Also, they were going to give us coordinators for each region." "So if it's the Ashanti region, all the event organizers, you know your points, person the number of men you need for the day and you also have to get your own security plan and they will work with you. We had a meeting with National Security and the hoteliers because people are coming, they will stay in hotels, they will stay in facilities that also need some kind of security." As Christmas draws closer it is incumbent upon the Ghana Tourism Authority to put security in place during lives when the events take place. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) predicts a historic holiday travel season, estimating a record-breaking 30 million passengers nationwide during the upcoming 12-day Thanksgiving travel period. This projection is based on the already set records in 2023, with seven of the best ten busiest travel days in the history of TSA. TSA Administrator David Pekoske assures preparedness for the expected surge, working closely with airline and airport partners to maintain efficient screening processes. Pekoske emphasized the commitment to keeping wait times under 30 minutes in the case of the standard screening lanes. When it comes to TSA PreCheck lanes, the wait time is under 10 minutes. Meanwhile, the aftermath of the devastating Maui wildfires has impacted tourism in Hawaii. Although the holiday travel period may not break records, improving visitor demand and local travel may contribute to a busier atmosphere at state airports. After immediate economic losses following the wildfires, Maui is gradually reopening to visitors, with a projected recovery to pre-fire levels not expected until 2028. Recent tourism data indicates a decrease in arrivals to the Hawaiian Islands, with Maui experiencing a 57% drop in visitors in September. Despite a slower Thanksgiving, Jerry Gibson, president of the Hawaii Hotel Alliance, notes a last-minute pickup for December. This is particularly true on Oahu, the Big Island, and Kauai. Room rates are higher for the festive season, offering travelers more value due to lower volumes. Hawaiian Airlines responds to increased travel demand by adding 20 neighbor island round trips during Thanksgiving. The carrier also enhances service between Honolulu and Las Vegas, with a daily schedule from November 17 to January 12, except on December 31. Additional flights are scheduled between December 21 and 29, and a round-trip third weekly flight between Pago Pago and Honolulu on December 13 and January 3.
