Travel Guides

Oktoberfest, celebrated in Munich, is Germany’s largest festival and one of the most spirited parties in the world. This annual tradition dates back to 1810 when Bavarians celebrated Prince Ludwig’s marriage with massive festivities.

Attracting crowds of over 6 million annually, this 16-day event is a major drawcard for international visitors.

Oktoberfest runs for 16-18 days, starting in late September and ending on the first weekend of October. To prepare for this incredible experience, keep these tips in mind.

However, it is important to note that the festival management establishes certain rules to maintain decorum during these festivities. These rules range from backpacks, bicycles, and prams to entrances, entrances, closing times, etc.

This article will help you learn more about the history, festivities, and joy of attending Oktoberfest. Also, we will help you find some of the best deals for the best Oktoberfest packages to make your experience smoother.

The Origins Of Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest, also known as “Oktoberfest München,” is a historical festival with its roots in Munich, Germany.

It first took place on October 12, 1810. This started as a wedding celebration for Crown Prince Ludwig of Bavaria and Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen.

Initially, the celebration lasted only five days, where people indulged in drinking, feasting, and horse races.

Today, Oktoberfest is a grand two-week-long event that starts on the first Sunday of October and has earned recognition as the world’s largest beer festival.

The festival features a variety of activities, such as horse racing, tree climbing, carnival booths, and agricultural shows.

Moreover, it showcases traditional costumes, parades, and food, immersing visitors in the authentic Bavarian culture.

If the 16th day falls before October 3, the festivity typically lasts 16 days. However, it can extend to 17 or 18 days.

The Beer Culture Of Oktoberfest

Beer Culture Of Oktoberfest

The beer served at Oktoberfest in Munich is subject to strict beer purification laws, including the Reinheitsgebot, which prohibits beers from breweries outside the city limits. Even smaller breweries are excluded from the event.

The European Union regulates that only certain larger breweries in Munich can call their beers “Oktoberfest.”

However, this does not apply to American craft beer, which Boston Beer Co. brews.

Interestingly, the beer of Oktoberfest in Munich was not always copper-colored or malty.

When served for the first time, it was a darker lager, similar to Munich Dunkel. In 1872, a brewery ran out of dark lager during a hot summer and introduced a stronger Vienna-style lager as an alternative.

This alternative was a hit. Thus, its popularity increased until World War I.

The “standard” Oktoberfest beer changed in strength and color after World War I, becoming more marzen-like in color and with a reddish-brown hue.

A malt-forward lager with a gorgeous golden to copper color and session strength has become the standard for the Oktoberfest style.

However, the future of the Oktoberfest beer style remains to be determined, with the potential for changes in taste and appearance over time.

The Festivities

If you’re considering attending the annual Oktoberfest celebration in Munich, Germany, you must be fully prepared for everything this incredible event offers.

From the lively music to the mouth-watering food and the endless flow of delicious beer, Oktoberfest is an unforgettable experience

Here are some insights to get you excited about the festivities at Oktoberfest—

It Is More Than Beer

Oktoberfest is a significant cultural event in Germany beyond just beer drinking.

Men wear lederhosen while women wear dirndls, creating a lively atmosphere outside the beer tents with carnival-like games, rides, and haunted houses.

Even though the festival revolves around drinking, family-friendly attractions are available.

No Ticket Entry

If you’re wondering about Oktoberfest tickets, you’ll be pleased to know that entry to the Oktoberfest grounds is completely free of charge. There are no entry or cover fees to worry about.

Bring Cash

Attending Oktoberfest is a well-known event. However, this grand festivity only accepts cards due to long lines and high fees. The expense of participating varies depending on the quantity of drinks you intend to have.

For those on a budget, allocating around 50 euros daily for food, drinks, and rides would suffice. In addition, coins are essential for smooth tipping, as a liter of beer costs 12-13 euros, depending on the tipping level.

Also, a few ten euro bills and 1 & 2 euro coins won’t hurt you at the Oktoberfest.

Explore The Tents

Oktoberfest tents have unique vibes, decor, and character, making exploring as many as possible essential.

The most well-known Hofbrau tent is notorious for being full of tourists, and locals often avoid it.

To fully experience the Oktoberfest experience, research beforehand and speak with locals to find the best tent for your needs.

Visiting as many tents as possible is also advisable, as each has its character and vibe.

Put Your Social Caps On

This text highlights the importance of socializing and enjoying music at a party. It encourages individuals to be polite and ask if space is available or to share it with others.

After a few drinks, it presents a great opportunity to connect with new people while singing classic hits.

Finding Your Accommodation

unlimited beer

During Oktoberfest, finding affordable accommodation can be challenging, with prices ranging from 400 euros per night to over €500.

Book accommodation near a U-Bahn station on the U4 or U5 line to save money.

One good option is Stoketoberfest, provided by Stoke Travel, which offers budget-friendly private tents. It is Munich’s only true budget accommodation option and is within city limits.

Moreover, Stoketoberfest offers an exciting party atmosphere with a stage show featuring live bands and DJs. Therefore, discover these packages at the most affordable rates and book early for hassle-free accommodation!

You can enjoy unlimited beer and sangria at your open bar and participate in games like flip cup beer pong or the Wheel of Misfortune.

The dance floor never stops, making it the wildest party in Munich. Oktoberfest is well-connected to public transportation, so you can easily explore the city.

Traditional Oktoberfest outfits are also available for purchase on-site.

Bask In Traditions

As discussed above, Munich’s beloved fall festival features more than just beer.

Oktoberfest, at the end of the day, is all about traditions. You will see the Bavarians dressed in Dirndls and lederhosen wearing 20-euro fabric; lederhosen indicates a foreigner’s presence.

This event is steeped in tradition, from chicken dances and sing-alongs to giant pretzels and gingerbread necklaces. It typically kicks off on a Saturday in late September and lasts for 16-18 days.

So book your Oktoberfest packages and plan ahead for a fun-filled experience at Munich’s Oktoberfest.

Beyond The Beaches: Unmasking The Most Dangerous Cities In Mexico

BY  Abdul Aziz Dec 26, 2023

With good reason, Mexico is one of the most sought-after travel destinations worldwide. However, not every area of Mexico is secure for tourists. Today, we will talk about the most dangerous cities in Mexico. According to the World of Statistics, nine Mexican cities are among the world's ten deadliest in 2022. There have been 512 homicides reported through the first seven months of the year, or an average of 73.1 per month. The murders are steadily on track to match or marginally exceed those numbers in 2023. The previous year saw 887 murders or an average of 73.91 homicides per month. Most Dangerous Cities In Mexico A recent study on wisevoter.com found that there were 36,579 murders in Mexico. This corresponded to the 4th-highest murder rate in the world, 28.37 per 100,000 people. The study found that men are eight times more likely than women to become murder victims. Here are some of the most dangerous cities in Mexico that you could wisely avoid if you are planning to visit: Acapulco Despite being one of the most dangerous cities in Mexico, Acapulco continues to draw large numbers of tourists due to its beaches. The rate of homicide in the city is 111 per 100,000 residents. Drug-related violence in Acapulco has increased dramatically as different cartels compete for control of the lucrative drug trade in the city. This city is located in Guerrero, a notorious state well-known for its high rates of violence. It witnesses regular chaos brought on by gang turf wars and heroin production. Tijuana Tijuana's high murder rate and drug-related violence make it the most dangerous city in Mexico. There are 138 homicides for every 100,000 people. Tijuana is the main gateway for drugs originating in South America, making it a hub for cartel activity. Due to its proximity to the US border, it is also a significant hub for organized crime and human trafficking. Based on data on homicide rates, Tijuana is the world's most dangerous city. Ciudad Victoria Ciudad Victoria, one of the most violent cities in Mexico, is situated in the state of Tamaulipas. This area is another hotbed of drug-related violence, with a homicide rate of 86 per 100,000 residents. Located just beyond the U.S. border, Tamaulipas makes it an entryway city as well. In Ciudad Victoria, members of the Northeast Cartel actively manage their businesses. Irapuato Irapuato, in the central state of Guanajuato, has witnessed a surge in drug-related homicides over the last three years. With a homicide rate of 81 per 100,000 residents, the city is among the least safe places for visitors. Even regrettably so for the residents who live there. Turf wars between the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel and the Jalisco Cartel New Generation are primarily to blame for the murders that occur here. Cancun A spate of shootings, robberies, and attacks on tourists in Cancun were linked to cartels. Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has recently issued a warning to travelers about the travel risks. This city is notorious for its high levels of violence. Yet it is far less deadly than other Mexican cities, with a homicide rate of 64 per 100,000 people. Uruapan For a mountainside city in Michoacan, Uruapan has seen a steady rise in violence; sadly, it appears that this violence will only get worse. This once peaceful town is now home to rival cartels that frequently switch names and hands. Killings take place in the most inconspicuous places, like bars and arcades. The current homicide rate in Uruapan is 55 per 100,000 residents. Culiacan Formerly regarded as a moderately dangerous city, Culiacan is currently the scene of a fatal conflict.  It happened after the apprehension of Ovidio Guzman, the son of cartel leader El Chapo. The city is Sinaloa's central city and has a homicide rate of 61 per 100,000 residents. Because of the Sinaloa Cartel's stronghold over the city and its populace, visiting tourists face extreme danger. Cuidad Obregon Sonora's second-biggest city, Cuidad Obregon, has gained notoriety recently. It ranks as the world's fourth most dangerous city in 2022. Not only has there been an increase in violence in Ciudad Obregon but also in the neighborhood of Cajame, which is the southernmost part of the state. It will take time to determine whether this sharp rise in crime will hold. There are currently 52 homicides for every 100,000 residents. Celaya According to the accounts, more than a thousand people were killed brutally every year. Theft, drug sales, and human trafficking have all increased, so the story is far from over. Taking a vacation in Celaya is risky. Celaya has 109.38 killings per 100,000 residents, making it one of the world's most dangerous cities right now. Coatzacoalcos Once a bustling tourist destination in Veracruz, Coatzacoalcos has a homicide rate of 48 per 100,000 residents. Perpetrators left nine bodies on the street. Among the top ten most dangerous cities in Mexico is this one because of murder, violent crime, and robbery. Ensenada The only other regions of Mexico with official travel advisories or restrictions are those located 1,400 miles away. Reports from the press and locals indicate a rise in violence. Locals and tourists, however, have not been impacted by this unrest. Violent killings have increased in Ensenada and Tijuana over the past few months, primarily occurring outside of the city center and at night. Although there are some risks in the unguarded neighborhoods further out, the city center is still very safe. Travel through the Vine Valley or on day trips are usually safe. Reynosa Reynosa is a prominent urban center located directly across the Rio Grande from the US border. Unfortunately, because of ongoing conflicts between criminal gangs, it has gained a reputation as one of Mexico's most dangerous cities. Traveling to this area due to the ongoing security concerns is high risk. However, it's crucial to understand that Reynosa, despite its unflattering reputation, is an important industrial center for the Rio Grande Valley and Northern Tamaulipas. The city drives a number of industrial activities and acts as a vital link in cross-border trade and commerce, significantly impacting the region's economic landscape. Reynosa continues to play an important role in connecting and promoting economic development in this region of Mexico, even with the ongoing security concerns. Chihuahua Due to concerns about crime and kidnapping, the U.S. State Department advises travelers to "Reconsider Travel" to Chihuahua. There is a lot of violent crime and gang activity in the area. Travelers should exercise caution even though the majority of criminal organizations commit murders that are targeted assassinations. Drug-related violence has escalated dramatically in northern Mexico over the last twelve years, especially in Chihuahua. Despite being relatively safer than other cities in the area, cartel violence is still a problem in Chihuahua. It's crucial to remember that most killings target drug dealers and their families; violent crimes rarely target tourists. There are military checkpoints throughout the city and its environs, and adherence to them is required. Wrapping Up It's critical to keep in mind that even though the state has a high rate of crime, not all of it is dangerous. For example, Illinois is not always a crime hotspot just because Chicago is. When it comes to organized crime and corruption, Tijuana, Ciudad Juarez, Victoria, Reynosa, and Culiacan are typically the worst cartel cities in Mexico. While you're organizing your next vacation, we hope this article will be helpful to you in determining which areas of Mexico are dangerous. If the location you're interested in doesn't appear on this list, it's probably not in one of Mexico's most dangerous regions. And as long as you exercise common sense caution, you should be alright. If you have thoughts to share or questions to ask about the most dangerous cities in Mexico, please leave a comment below. We would love to hear from you! How AI Is Revolutionizing Member Engagement In Corporate Travel: Enhancing Interaction And Personalization

BY  Anindita Dey Oct 29, 2025

I was going through a recent report of Ernst & Young (EY). It was about how generative AI is changing the tourism industry.  The report features data from the recent WiT Singapore conference. It said that around 60% of the travelers from the Asia Pacific use AI tools to research and book travel destinations.  Furthermore, many airlines, hotel chains, and travel booking platforms are using AI for better data management, analysis, and revenue management. Moreover, the use of AI is offering a customized experience with UX (user experience) highlights, such as voice-based interfaces and personalized itineraries.  Thanks to these efficient virtual assistants, the ease of travel booking and personalization of itineraries, AI is also improving member engagement in corporate travel. There is a reason why names such as Kayak, United Airlines, and Concur Travel are using AI for travel booking, information updates, and more.  Hi, in today’s blog, we will talk about the role of AI in member engagement in corporate travel.   Why Is AI In Member Engagement Crucial For Corporate Travel?  From creating a personalized visual identity with an efficient profile picture-making tool, such as PFP maker, to offering real-time support and updates, AI is boosting member engagement in corporate travel.  1. Real-Time Travel Updates Chatbots and virtual assistants are changing the way we used to follow up on our travel bookings and itineraries. They offer real-time support and updates.  Furthermore, a travel booking platform with AI uses predictive analytics to enhance your booking choices. Also, the automated expense reporting eliminates all paperwork. In addition, an AI-powered fraud detection mechanism helps to identify unauthorized expenses. Thus, it ensures compliance with corporate travel policies.  2. Data Analysis To Avoid Delays And Disruptions   The machine learning algorithms of a travel booking or management system can identify cost-saving opportunities by analyzing large amounts of data.  Furthermore, machine learning boosts member engagement by identifying preferred travel modes and patterns. Also, machine learning keeps you informed about anticipated delays, suggesting alternative routes and the best flight and hotel options in this scenario.  Thus, AI accomplishes two tasks at once. It boosts the operational efficiency of the travel organizer and improves the experience of the traveler.  3. Personalized Travel Recommendations  We all have our travel preferences. AI analyzes the data and our travel search patterns to create personalized travel recommendations. AI also takes cues from the previous booking and specific corporate travel policies of a company.  Thus, AI helps save time on the process of finding and booking hotels, airlines, or trains. Moreover, AI improves employee satisfaction with cost-effectiveness. So, the employer and the employee are both in a win-win situation.  4. The Use Of AI Makes Travel More Sustainable  Did you know that AI can analyze carbon footprint? By analyzing carbon footprint, AI offers recommendations for environmentally friendly travel choices. Thus, it supports corporates to achieve their specific CSR goals.  Also, companies can use these AI insights to optimize their travel budget and reduce environmental impact to make their travel experience more efficient.  5. Policy Enforcement  Every business has a policy or a set of guidelines regarding corporate travel. AI can assess those policies, and it considers the same policies for completing travel booking and management.  In other words, an AI-integrated system ensures that the booking agrees with the specific corporate travel policies. This is effective for compliance and cost-effectiveness.  However, this compliance is not just limited to the policies of a specific company. An AI system knows the changing policies, travel advisories, latest occurrences, and announcements of a place.  Also, there can be wildlife conservation norms or sustainable tourism guidelines. Breaking any of these can lead to severe legal implications.  When you are choosing a particular place, AI will share all these updates so that your travel experience is hassle-free.  What Are The Drawbacks Of Using AI In Member Engagement For Corporate Travel?  I have already mentioned that data assessment and analytics are important aspects of the use of AI in corporate travel management. However, what if the data is incorrect? In reality, there have been instances where incorrect data has put the traveler and the travel company in a spot.  In this context, I must share the example of the Air Canada case in 2022. Jake Moffatt, a passenger, was assured by the chatbot that if he booked a full-fare flight for his grandmother’s funeral, he would be eligible to get a bereavement fare once the trip was over.  However, the claim was wrong and Air Canada refused to pay the bereavement fee. So, Jake Moffatt took the legal way.  Despite Air Canada trying to defend its position and establish the chatbot as a separate legal entity, the British Columbia Civil Resolution Tribunal held Air Canada accountable for the false dissemination of information.  So, Moffatt got a compensation of $812.02 from Air Canada. The BBC has also quoted the written response of the tribunal member, Christopher Rivers.  “It should be obvious to Air Canada that it is responsible for all the information on its website. It makes no difference whether the information comes from a static page or a chatbot.”  This incident highlights how any information mistake or “customer hallucination” caused by AI tools will make the concerned company accountable.  Good Data Hygiene And Avoiding Silos: The Future Of Using AI In Corporate Travel Management  A corporate travel booking or management company needs to be particular about good data hygiene. That is why you have to ensure that duplicates are eliminated, formats are standardized, and formatting is accurate.  When the data is well-structured and clean, a travel management company can offer the best and most accurate travel policies, cost forecasts, and a better travel experience.  Data silos are another challenge in using AI in corporate .. The problem occurs when data is kept in disconnected and separate stores. When data is fragmented, AI cannot offer a comprehensive view of anything.  So, the spending estimates and travel patterns will eventually go wrong. So, the use or incorporation of data needs to be integrated for a comprehensive result of the search or query of a traveler.
