Update: Sri Lanka's New Free Tourist ETA Scheme (May 2026): What Changed  Sri Lanka's visa system has changed in a way worth flagging directly.  As of May 25, 2026, the government waived the ETA processing fee entirely for nationals of 40 countries. These include the US, UK, Canada, Australia, most of the EU, India, China, and several Gulf states.   Eligible travellers still need to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization before departure.  The fee is gone, not the application.  Also, the visa remains a 30-day, double-entry authorization, matching what this guide already describes.   Maldivian nationals get a 90-day version under a separate reciprocal arrangement.  Furthermore, the nationals of the Maldives, Seychelles, and Singapore, who did not need an ETA at all.
